Poor Lois not only welcomed me to the Ask DG Thread re-opening celebration...she also had to get me enrolled!

Anyway, what a day it's been, not only here, but around the world.

So, kiddos, welcome to the shiny new Ask DG thread...what do you wanna talk about?

Sal, what record is it on? I think I have it, but couldn't swear to it.

I'll put the music back in a downloadable/uploadable form.

Well Dennis, I actually heard it on the radio if you can believe it. Ga Tech's radio station has a really great jazz show 5 days a week. its suposed to cover all facets of jazz but they really just end up playing 95% free jazz, which is fine by me.

anyway, heres what I found out from allmusic. he did it several times, on the following albums:

Chadbourne, Eugene Albert Ayler Undead [01]
Chadbourne, Eugene Chadbourne Baptist Church [92]
Chadbourne, Eugene Chadbourne Baptist Church, Vol. 3 [91]
Chadbourne, Eugene Electric Rake Cake [95]
Chadbourne, Eugene Ghost Legends [77]
Chadbourne, Eugene LSD C&W: The History of the Chadbournes in America [87]

that Ayler Unded record looks mighty interesting...

Sergio, Bless you my (not really) son, though I could adopt you along with Bluenoter! Moné was in the running, but he is being adopted by somebody else.

Sal, do you ever listen to Al Smith - one of the GA Tech jazz programmers? I think he's on Sunday evenin' (?). Look for him, and when he's on, call him up and ask him if there's any "Sick Dog Music" that he could play for you. There's a story there. Ask him to play Yells At Eels while he's at it.

We did a Southern Tour a year ago, and after playing at Eyedrum, we left Atlanta the next day to the wonderful sounscape of Georgia Tech Radio. We really couldn't believe the quality of music , In and Out, that they played!

Yes Moné, Mama still cooks...so I guess you're still in the running.
The picture is of Mama G. She looks like she can really cook, huh?

And Sal, there is a Sunday night show March of 2002 that features Dennis Gonzalez music, and it is archived at WREK, so look it up. I can probably look up the exact date and time and get back with you.

Oh Awesome Dennis, I'll be at the eyedrum next week for an improv thing. should be pretty fun. This Sunday's show on Wrek will be a Vandermark special - I'm looking forward to it imensely. I'll give your man a call and see what he says.

They play such consitantly good music, its incredible... you can hear them any time at http://cyberbuzz.gatech.edu/wrek if I'm not mistaken. even the variety shows are great, every other song is either psych rock or free jazz. I can't tell you how much great music I've found out about via wrek. its insane!

Those are all good peoples...

Sal...Though we're talking to Euphonic about doing another show sometime this year, we were at Eyedrum this time last year, and that's when Al Smith of WREK did his Sunday Night Special. Dontcha worry none, we'll keep you posted on any developments in your area!

I checked on the Archives as well...WREK-FM only keeps shows archived a week. I may have it on DAT and can probably transfer part of it to CD for you...I'll check.

Even though this is an Ask The Musican thread, I've spoken of my visual art before. Since many of you have not visited my website and explored the visual aspects of it, here is my most recent artwork - commissioned by my son Stefan for his girlfriend's birthday in November. I just got around to finishing it last week. Makes a great screensaver!

Enjoy!

BTW, it is the size of a real violin.

artwork

Thank you, Dennis! What are the media? It's hard for me to tell whether it's two-dimensional or three-dimensional.

The media are: one retired violin (so it is 3-D) with tagboard wings and acrylic overpaint.

Let me know, Moné! I'm ready when you are!

I work in a plethora of media:

oil on canvas
works on paper
xerography
3-D work in various media
bookbinding
mail art
postcards

check out just a bit of what I do:

http://www.dennisgonzalez.com/htmlfi..._of_images.htm

You'll need some time to explore each area, and this is only a small bit of what I do visually!

Just a hint...click on the words "Metaphysics", "Archetypal Objects", Black and White"...NOT on the spinning wheels!

Dennis, as I think I've mentioned, I've had trouble navigating there, so thanks for the hint. But I've explored the artwork on the site a little bit and been knocked out by what I saw. I'm sure that I'll be exploring it some more.

As I think I also mentioned, I'm in awe of your multitalentedness!

Cool Dennis, give us a holler when you come through again and we'll get a beer and talk shop, and maybe even *gasp* politics! gah!

Theres some pretty good people in this town as far as the free jazz community goes. Very de-centralized but we can fill the hell out of an existentialist church when vandermark or brotzmann come to play. Did you get a good turn out at the Eyedrum?

Gimmie a shout on here when you get that transcription sent, if you can. Yahoo takes forever to load for me these days, weird.

Dennis, if you haven't already, please see the replies you got in the Alley thread "Ummm...did we lose all the threads from the OLD JC?"

As I wrote in that thread, as of now, the old board is "still there," and you can still get to it if you want to print out the old Ask DG threads.
