Question about signatures...

Sorry if this has been raised before, but I'm curious about the use of signatures. Has it been disabled across the board? The reason I ask is that I've got my preferences set to enable viewing them, and I see my own sig ("...the poster formerly known as ssmith36.") when I preview my messages before posting. But once I've posted, I don't see my sig file appearing, nor does anyone else seem to be using one.

It's a really small and insignificant point, since I'd always planned to get rid of my own signature after a while. (I have no real desire to attach unsolicited philosophical or political detritus to my posts!) But since I'm using a new handle on the new board, I'd hoped to use the sig file for at least a little while to let anyone who cares know that "Other Steve" is one and the same as the former "ssmith36."

Any ideas?
