Cool website, Bill.

Question: I've never heard Rahsaan, but from what I've read about him, I'm interested in picking something up. Do you have any recommendations about where I should start? I saw that BMG is currently carrying his 1962 album "Domino." Would that be a good starting point?

Nice photos, Bill, but I think you should rearrange them so one doesn't have to scroll right. That should be easy enough.

Thanks. Yes, Domino would be a fine place to start. It's from my personal favorite period in his career. Rip, Rig & Panic from those Mercury years is by far my top pick. If you have the $, the Mercury box-set Rahsaan: The Complete Mercury Recordings of Roland Kirk is 90% incredible stuff (and the other 10% is at least interesting.)

Bright Moments!

And a Happy New Year to you too, Cem! The Satoko Fujii photo is one of my faves too. By the way, what did you think of that concert? I wasn't really knocked out by it like some of the other ones I heard in Vancouver last year, but definitely enjoyed it.

Good suggestion, Pete, I'll work on it. Earthlink has this collaboration with an outfit called Trellix Site Builder that makes it relatively easy for neo-Luddites such as myself, who wouldn't know HTML from the HMS Pinafore, to build a site. But it's still all rocket science or brain surgery territory from my perspective... There are a few more photos I want to add soon, and will see if I can figure out how to get all of 'em aligned left when I do.

I agree, and I think Bright Moments is the most representative for the Atlantic years.

Thanks again for the suggestion, Pete! No more scrolling right... There's also a shot of James Harvey added.

I agree. Talented players, but they didn't appear focused and didn't seem to connect. It was a bit of a let-down, as my buddy Brad from Portland, whom I believe you've met, really talked them up a bunch before-hand. Then, there were no sparks -for me anyway... It didn't feel like they ever got comfy in there.

Cem:

The Vancouver trip was worth it just for the experience of discovering Sean Bergin! I'd never heard him (nor even heard of him) before, and was totally blown away by his playing.

And that Kenny Wheeler/John Taylor show!!!!!
