Bands That Never Were

I've always thought that Anthony Braxton and John Hicks should form a combo called the Braxton-Hicks Contractions.

They can't release it until after the trial is over, but Steve Lacy and Oscar Peterson are working on a Lacy Peterson Memorial Album.

I'd like to see a jazz/rock/country trio of Buddy Miles, Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davis, and Junior Brown, known as
MILES DAVIS JUNIOR

And if Don Cherry and Chu Berry and Brew Moore played together, they could be
THE CHERRY BERRY BREW

And if Sargent Shriver played something and he played with Jim Pepper and Charlie Byrd and Shelly Manne, they could be
SARGENT PEPPER MEETS THE BYRD MANNE

Boy, this is tough! I've been trying to come up with some for two days now. Here's the best I could do:

If Bing Crosby, Bill Evans (the pianist), Bill Evans (the saxist), Lewis Nash, and Lester Young got together, they could be Crosby, Bills, Nash, and Young.

This one's worse:

If Big Black and Max Roach did a gig with Johnny Coles and Hubert Laws, they could be Big Max with Coles Laws (cole slaw).

I think it's time to give up.

That was the funniest bad joke I've heard in a while. My brain isn't equipped to make these kind of connections, apparently... i haven't been able to come up with anything.

Boris and Square...:

You guys are just way too witty for my poor, feeble little brain to process all this hilarity.

Okay, I posted this before and immediately deleted it, thinking I might offend someone. What the hell. Slightly X-rated:

A unique brass and reeds trio. If Beiderbecke, Armstrong and Herman worked together, they could call themselves

Bix Pops a' Woody

We have been discussing Led Zepplin drummer John Bonham in the Alley. It would have been interesting to get him together with Derek Bailey for a project under the direction of Henry Threadgill: The Bonham and Bailey Circus Circus.
