Schaumann, leave these pages at once and

get yourself a copy of Alberto Pinton's DOG OUT, further evidence of the greatness of Swedish jazz. You haven't heard baritone like this in a while, I'm willing to bet. Get some.

Dave. . .mea culpa. I'll Email you from a new address.

Paul B. . .I know a third one.

Is this it? I gleaned from the ridiculously hilarious Moserobie site that it's the name of a band, too? Thanks.

Now that I've seen a shot of this aging-hipster bari player from the icy climes, might Mssrs. shrugs or Christmas give us a little more info, i.e. why should one listen to this guy? I like his glasses...but what about his music?

If he plays like M. Gustaffson, though, I'm probably not interested.

Bye-ya.

Should we care that he looks like Shostakovich?

For all I know that IS Shostakovich, because it isn't Pinton. Found this at albertopintondotcom:

Whoever he is, it's good that Pinton had sense enough not put his own picture w/shades on the cover trying to look anywhere nearly as charismatic. Now Kuchen's picture, that's a whole different matter. I wonder who/what he was posing for (must be since he's staring right into the lens). Oh yeah should talk about the music - I guess - I listened to the sample clips and they didn't yield much and cadence seems to be the only place carrying this.

Shrugs - how's the Lazro outing? I did read the AMG review but I wonder if you'd concur (even though they rated it high the review itself is rather descriptive for my likes, and no comparison/reference so I have no clue what it sounds like)

But if it's anything like the other half, you're in serious trouble, mister.

I wasn't criticizing your verbiage, Michael, the intent which was very clear. Just razzing our buddy JC (who has also provided me with some excellent discs).

I have been on Moserobie's website yesterday, and I listened to a few excerpts from those bands I know nothing about (from the Favorite Labels thread)... The Stahls Bla sounded good, as did the Zanussi Five, although I can't judge on a few seconds of music. The album by Magnus Broo sounds OK, perhaps a bit too common in its approach (instrumentation, themes, ...). Maybe I had greater expectations because of his excellent playing on the Atomic albums.

I will go listen to that Dog Out album right away...

You really know how to hurt a guy.

Do you think Arsenal have got rid of Viera too soon, or have they cashed in just at the right time?

A year too late Alastair, though I can't believe they still got that much for him.
My brother (the world's biggest Arsenal fan) is wearing a black armband today. (I'm not kidding!)

They dropped 13.5 on Hleb, whom I like and have watched a lot, but they were just rejected by Sevilla after they offered 13.75 more for Baptista. Who knows--when they threw all that at Hleb they had to know Patrick was heading to Serie A. Bah! High-end English sides and all their damned money!

Ballack to ManU rumors still ubiquitous. . .

Oops. . .back to the thread.

I fear your brother and I can never be friends.

But then I kinda knew that when you mentioned that he listened to Bruce Springsteen.

Martin K is a man of many facets - no bari excesses here. This might be a buried project, at least I haven't seen/heard anything from them. Apparently this, the Sogu Kvintett, was founded in 1998 for a theater performance involving Butoh dance & video art. The music seems to be centered around Guignard's chansons. Haven't seen the record(?), but found some samples here: http://www.substella.org/

(Click the sunflower down right, then "musik".)

Dunno, I'm just glad to see the back of the miserable f**ker. Roy Keane will have to find someone else to square up to in the tunnel before the game
