Phillips/Leandre/Parker/Saitoh

I just heard about the upcoming release of Victo cd 091:
Barre Phillips/Joelle Leandre/William Parker/Tetsu Saitoh
"After You've Gone"

From the Victoriaville 2003 concert. The four bassists paying tribute
to the departed Peter Kowald. I'm interested in hearing how this sounds
on a good recording. I think that the concert suffered mostly from poor
amplification. It was difficult to get into the suibtleties of the music
perormed in the large cinema with little amplification. For the most part, I
enjoy music much more in a live situation, but this one may be the opposite.
Anyone get the opportunity to hear it yet?

I'm listening to it now. As I thought, it is much more enjoyable hearing the four basses up front as opposed to the under-amplified concert. The CD has a thousand times the impact that the concert had. And (as I mentioned in the thread after the concert happened) just hearing four of Kowald's good friends, fellow bassists, collaborators, and associates coming together to pay him tribute is worth the price of admission, and the price of the CD, for me. I know that some disagreed with me at the time, but sometimes the human factor transcends the music, as Bert Noglik alludes to in the liners.
