What are they afraid of?

  • Bush, Hastert oppose extending 9/11 probe

President Bush and House Speaker Dennis Hastert, Republican of Illinois, have decided to oppose granting more time to an independent commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, virtually guaranteeing that the panel will have to complete its work by the end of May, officials said last week. A growing number of commissioners had concluded that the panel needed more time to prepare a thorough, credible accounting of missteps leading up to the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. But the White House and leading Republicans have informed the panel that they oppose any delay, which could mean Sept. 11-related controversies emerging during the presidential campaign, sources said. With time running short, the 10-member bipartisan panel has decided to scale back the number and scope of public hearings, according to commission members and staff. (Washington Post)

So, chances are that we will never know the truth. Not surprising.
Much more politically advantageous to have "Remember Sept 11" as a slogan, than to have to explain what has been done since to examine the events leading up to that obscenity. Explaining why it was more important to know about Clinton's indescretions than it was to
co-ordinate "chatter" which could well have prevented the attacks. Also, what exactly, besides creating another beurocracy, "Homeland Security" has been done to make us safer?? Are the CIA and FBI now working together?? How much attention has been focussed on the fact that Saudi Arabia was the home of ALL the terrorists on Sept 11, not Iraq??
Mr Bush obviously doesn't want to examine all the contributing factors, but would rather keep the hate alive by continuing to talk generally about terrorists, but not giving us any specifics.
He's not big on specifics.

The Truth will be summarily outlawed in the next republican Congress.
