Interesting spam
I noticed that my Yahoo account somehow got signed up to some company's goddamned mailing list, from an "Allied Marketing Promotions, LLC." I've been marking them as spam but so far Yahoo hasn't adjusted my settings yet. So I decided to open one of them just to get the header info and handle matters myself. In addition to some HTML graphics (blocked by Mozilla Firebird, whoo hoo) there was this text at the bottom:
"I was going to wait a while before we talked about this. We have certain immutable properties. I have a splitting migraine. I could speak english or spanish but instead I use my telepathy.
Help me ! I'm trapped in an e-mail factory! Never deal with roosters that look like monkeys.
Okay, let's do this right. It's scary, I have to admit. I see your point. I don't want to be predictable.
I had fun when we talked on Tuesday. Hey--I don't disagree with you.Does the universe remember? Probably. I was going to wait a while before we talked about this. This will end well. Never deal with roosters that look like monkeys.
The ratio of signal to noise has decreased significantly. I feel pretty incoherent today; sorry if this is confusing.This is ultimately no worse than television. I could speak english or spanish but instead I use my telepathy."
Discuss.

I really need to remember to switch the "From:" in my emails when I send out the personal stuff. Sorry, Mone.

More poetry from Allied Marketing Promotions, LLC, mixing and matching Shakespearian sonnets:
Will play the tyrants to the very same
Which happies those that pay the willing loan;
And having climbed the steep-up heavenly hill,
Disdains the tillage of thy husbandry?
Then what could death do if thou shouldst depart,
So thou through windows of thine age shalt see,
Like feeble age, he reeleth from the day,
And having climbed the steep-up heavenly hill,
And, tender churl, mak'st waste in niggarding:
Disdains the tillage of thy husbandry?
And that unfair which fairly doth excel;
Then were not summer's distillation left,
Like feeble age, he reeleth from the day,
Unlooked on diest unless thou get a son.
Were an all-eating shame, and thriftless praise.
But as the riper should by time decease,
Now is the time that face should form another;
For having traffic with thy self alone,
And only herald to the gaudy spring,
Look in thy glass and tell the face thou viewestbW9uZXBldGVyc29uQHlhaG9vLmNvbQ==

I think I'm just going to keep this thread going for the hell of it. More from that poetic corporation, Allied Marketing Promotions:
Nature's bequest gives nothing, but doth lend,
Thou that art now the world's fresh ornament,
But when from highmost pitch, with weary car,
Pity the world, or else this glutton be,
Thou of thy self thy sweet self dost deceive:
And dig deep trenches in thy beauty's field,
Calls back the lovely April of her prime;
The bounteous largess given thee to give?
Unlooked on diest unless thou get a son.
If thou couldst answer 'This fair child of mine
Or who is he so fond will be the tomb
The eyes, 'fore duteous, now converted are
Nature's bequest gives nothing, but doth lend,
Make sweet some vial; treasure thou some place
To eat the world's due, by the grave and thee.
Then were not summer's distillation left,
To hideous winter, and confounds him there;
Or who is he so fond will be the tomb
Which happies those that pay the willing loan;
This were to be new made when thou art old,

Thy youth's proud livery so gazed on now,
Then how when nature calls thee to be gone,
And that unfair which fairly doth excel;
And that unfair which fairly doth excel;
That thereby beauty's rose might never die,
Feed'st thy light's flame with self-substantial fuel,
Make sweet some vial; treasure thou some place
Leese but their show; their substance still lives sweet.
That's for thy self to breed another thee,
So thou, thyself outgoing in thy noon
Within thine own bud buriest thy content,
And only herald to the gaudy spring,
Attending on his golden pilgrimage:
Profitless usurer, why dost thou use
Calls back the lovely April of her prime;
From his low tract, and look another way:
But as the riper should by time decease,
To be death's conquest and make worms thine heir.
Then being asked, where all thy beauty lies,
Or who is he so fond will be the tomb

Thou art thy mother's glass and she in thee
That use is not forbidden usury,
A liquid prisoner pent in walls of glass,
Disdains the tillage of thy husbandry?
If thou couldst answer 'This fair child of mine
Then, beauteous niggard, why dost thou abuse
And, tender churl, mak'st waste in niggarding:
Then being asked, where all thy beauty lies,
Feed'st thy light's flame with self-substantial fuel,
So thou through windows of thine age shalt see,
Of his self-love, to stop posterity?
The lovely gaze where every eye doth dwell,
And being frank she lends to those are free:
Beauty o'er-snowed and bareness every where:
Or ten times happier, be it ten for one;
Making a famine where abundance lies,
Look in thy glass and tell the face thou viewest
Will be a totter'd weed of small worth held:
The bounteous largess given thee to give?
Which, used, lives th' executor to be.

can someone please explain to me how spam came into our lives. i never asked for it, yet pop-ups are getting so that you can't get proper service on the internet.
must be from the same person who invented the TV. i also have yahoo as one of my many servers. what i "hate" about yahoo is the fact that they can close out your account if you don't reply to their certain gimmicks.
my girlfriend/neighbor lost a whole account of millions or so of data that was valuable and now they want to do it to me. they can stick their stupid account up their asses. they are the masses!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have my new account with excite and they are more reasonable to me.
yet if you will notice that all free accounts can come in an slam you with their spam any time they want. yahoo will just elminate you like your are no nothing rones or mopes.
i liked them for the longest time and they got rid of many popular sites and we get stuck with their crap. throw them to the curb.

I don't get pop-ups very often, but I am really sick of yahoo's SPAM! I'm convinced the reason they allow so much of it into our mailboxes isbecause they are trying to get us to pay for that "larger Mail box."

I can't wait to try Google's planned email service - free of charge, they'll let you have 1 GB of email storage. Not only that, they'll read it all and send you customized spam, inserted right in your email! What a beautiful user experience that will be!
The EU wants to nix the thing because it would violate European privacy laws, which apparently are more stringent than in the US. And now a California state senator is planning to propose a bill to block "Gmail." I hope they succeed in their noble efforts.
