We have a can of sorts, the thing that comes with those Xmas popcorn gifts. In it is my tool supply. There's a hammer, a wrench and two screwdrivers. Some twine, some tape. That's it. Doesn't qualify as a toolbox.

I have the toolbox I bought when I went to work at Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach during the sumer of '51.
I would imagine that box is older than 75% of the folks here.
Should I take it to the Antiques Roadshow?

Yes, and I may need to graduate to a larger one, as I'm slowly accumulating a decent set of tools. My father-in-law keeps getting me stuff, including stuff I don't really have much use for. He gave me a Sawzall. Well, we live in a condo, so I have no idea what to do with it. But I guess if I ever decide to, I don't know, cut the building in half or something, I can do it.

I had a toolbox before (i.e. when we rented), but the dividing line here really is "Do you own a home?" Tools multiply.
The Sawz-all. I began to understand why some people feel they way they do about guns once I got the ol' reciprocating saw out of its case and into action...

I have several toolboxes, both purpose-made and improvised, spread all over my money pit of a house. Until I moved to NYC I never knew that there were adults living lives without a set of tools handy. Even when I lived in a 28th floor condo I still kept a full set of hammers, screwdrivers, saws, socket wrenches, open end wrenches, etc. I just wouldn't really feel grown and male without it, and, anyway, how the hell could I fix my old truck with no tools?
I am, though, quite jealous of Larry's Snap-ons...

I have about half my garage filled with various implements (including two toolboxes, one some no-name brand and the other one Kobalt). The other half is filled with various gardening supplies. Mrs. Tanager may let me buy a new rototiller this year...grunt grunt.

I own three tool boxes. One from childhood (actually found a half-smoked joint in it a few months ago, must be 25 years old), one cheap one when I purchased my first home, and one toolkit box bought at an end of aisle display at, of all places, J.C. Penney.
I am mechanically disinclined and completely useless with anything beyond a hammer. I can tighten a pot handle. Well, the first few times anyway, because after that the screw holes are stripped.
I inherited this flaw from my mother AND father, both of whom are/were as mechanically retarded as I am.

I wish, Al. That was just supposed to be a Reynoldsian sign off, but after I posted it I realized it looked more like a declaration. I don't have a set of those. But there is a headquarters or something located just around the corner from my office. My grandfather used to covet them. In his day, they were only sold by truck. You couldn't just walk into a store and buy them. That meant mechanics were the only people who owned them, basically. I think it's easier these days for an average Joe to score some. They have a website and stuff.

I have accumulated far too many tools during 41 years in this apartment. No tool box, but my latest power drill has its own, and there is one containing assorted nails, screws, bits, and bolts.

Yes, I own what I laughingly call a toolbox. It has two sizes of hammers, a multi-bit screwdriver, a socket set, a large crescent wrench, a set of assorted wrenches, pliers,[regular and needle-nosed], several hex-wrenches [or Alan keys] from when I put together bookshelves and other stuff. Of course there are containers of small nails and screws, sandpaper, woodglue, level, micrometer, goggles, measuring tape and heavy gloves..........and that's about it.
So a practical toolbox of sorts.

Several of them. One at home, kept under the sink with the standard implements (hammer, wrench, pliers, large screwdrivers, nails, screws, etc.). I have minimal handyman skills, but it's just nice to have that stuff around. I have another one which contains a power drill and various bits and heads. I use it mostly in the course of my job duties (computer and network technician) to set up storage racks, telephony punch boards and the like. A third one contains all of my computer repair stuff: static pad, cable tester, network tracer, network sniffer, demagnetized tools, wire stripper, etc. A smaller, portable kit in my desk at work, plus a handy all-in-one tool that attaches to my belt.

Thank you Mone, but everything seems alright on this side. I appreciate your kindness though. And I'm quite impressed about your equipment.

Thanks for the compliments, Jazzzoline. So what about you, do you own your own tool box?

Oh, just this silly hockey site where someone was foolish enough to grant me the "Moderator" title that Mone enjoys on this board. So over there, I have amazing powers. Sort of like I do in real life. Everywhere except here, where the Bastard Mone is the Kryptonite to my Superman.
Holding a grudge,
Larry
