George W. Bush is not in fact president. He is merely a court-appointed stooge being propped up by a band of reactionary gangsters intent on destroying all that is good and decent in the universe.

My pet tortoise, Larry, who is now in hibernation, would make a better president than that moron.

Virtually any of the former and current announced Democratic candidates in these primaries would probably make a better president than George W. Bush. I personally would not have the experience, patience or interest in the office.

I think I would make a better president than anyone. My constituents might disagree, but so what?

Oh, I think you missed this choice, Crawjo:
X Of course not! George W. Bush is one of the few men in America with the courage and wisdom to prevent what little is left of the civilized, Christian world from falling into the hands of lawless Jihadists and gay atheists, and he does this thankless work for God and Western Civilization in spite of an incredibly large mass of uncaring, stupid, leftwing unappreciative Democrats, blind independents, and moronic Europeans.

No I'd probably be a bad president. I'd work for select interest groups like Big Oil and I'd probably invade countries that upset my family. Heck my dad was in World War two so there's a few countries I don't like right there. I'd probably ignore the UN (bunch of pantywaists) and invade countries on dodgy intelligence, I'd stay outta the palestinian conflict though....yessirree I would unless a few of my neo-con buddies wanted me to get involved and then I'd just condemn the palestinians.
Hang on ....this sounds familiar....I better check what names on my driver's licence!

I voted yes I would, egotist that I am. I like the idea of being given credit for political acumen that I don't possess and wisdom that I don't possess either. Also, having everyone laugh at my lame jokes, because I'm President appeals to me. AND I would get to wear battle gear, even though I have never served, honourably or otherwise.
Being given the benefit of the doubt, when I say something really stupid is another good point. As it is now, people actually challenge my comments, instead of just nodding and assuming that I know what I'm talking about.
Saying, "Bring 'em on", challenging the enemy, also would make me look brave, even though the biggest threat to my life may well be possible choking on a pretzel in my own family room.

What evil, freedom-hating marxists? If there are any left, they're in Central Asia, and who cares about them anyway. It's freedom-hating religious extremists who value their beliefs more than they value their own lives who are the problem now.

Laura Bush has perfected Nancy Reagan's "GAZE". She's a Nancy-clone with wider hips and no fashion sense.

That's it! I'd be a better President because I'd get my WIFE to do all the hard stuff for me, like paying the bills, just like she does now.

I would be hard put to name an American--not currently in politics--who would make a worse president than the one we didn't elect.
Seriously, I cannot think of a single positive thing to say about Bush--not one. We have had GOP crooks in the White House beore (elected ones, at that), but all have been preferable to this pathetic appointee.

I chose the Chris A. choice.
Related to this....did anyone read that book review in the Times on Sunday regarding the Paul O'Neill thing?
Cheney comes off like some spidery motherfucker spinning webs and laying traps behind the scenes. I never liked the man, and already had this same impression of him, so the description rang true to me.

That is painfully true. For that matter, he's not even Reagan or Nixon or Hoover or Mortimer Snerd.

Even if I thought the way you do about his politics, Chris, I could think of one thing that I like about him: The man loves baseball. Sure, he made some pretty bad trades while he was with the Rangers (cough cough...Harold Baines for Sammy Sosa...cough cough) but I would at least give him that.
Wouldn't you, Goody?

Actually, I was thinking the entire cast of Hee-Haw....every one of them could do that 'country twang' thing the Prez does when he's trying to be like a normal down home guy...sheesh

OK...he likes baseball.
What I'd really like to give him is a swift kick in the Ashcroft.
