WILLIE COLON, INDIA, JOSE ALBERTO "El Canario" in Concert

SALSA STARS WILLIE COLON, INDIA, JOSE ALBERTO "El Canario"
AND KEVIN CEBALLO
IN CONCERT FOR ONE HOT NIGHT ONLY AT
LEHMAN CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

For one sizzling evening, four of the brightest stars in salsa come together for a highly anticipated concert at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 8PM. Willie Colon, India, Jose Alberto "El Canario" and Kevin Ceballo will perform their biggest hits live at Lehman Center as part of the "Salsa-Palooza" tour directed by music master Isidro Infante and his orchestra.

Willie Colon is unquestionably one of the few artists who literally defines the genre of salsa. The bandleader and trombonist has been a star in Afro-Latin music since the '60s. Among his achievements are more than one hundred albums and eleven Grammy nominations as well as multi-platinum and gold sales exceeding thirty- million worldwide. While Colon still holds the record for sales, he also manages to remain an artistic innovator. Throughout his career he has consistently updated and reinterpreted Afro-Cuban music using his trombone as lead instrument (instead of the customary trumpets and flutes); blending in jazz harmonies and jazz style soloing with the sounds of his Puerto Rican heritage.

India, affectionately named "Salsa's Princess" by Tito Puente, began her ascent to stardom when she was 15 and a member of the popular group T.K.A. Since then, she has become one of the largest selling female recording artists in Latin music history. Earning several Grammy nominations, plus numerous top ten hits, India has scored multi-platinum and gold sales for every album she's recorded. Her unstoppable passion for music and performing has also inspired collaborations with Tito Puente and the Count Basie Orchestra, Marc Anthony, Nuyorican Soul and Oscar D'Leon.

Jose Alberto is known throughout the world as "El Canario." This top selling artist has recorded an incredible twenty-seven hit albums, eight gold and three platinum. He has performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including New York's Madison Square Garden. Alberto has collaborated and toured sold-out shows with Celia Cruz, Oscar D'Leon, Tito Puente and Eddie Palmieri.

Kevin Ceballo joins this special concert in support of his new Universal Latino release Yo Soy Hombre. Ceballo, who adds flourishes of R&B to his distinct sound, has been driving the Latin music scene wild since his solo debut and was named "Revelation of the Year," in the tropical music category by Univision lo Nuestro. Young, talented and pure salsa at heart, Ceballo has come up fast in a short time, winning awards, spawning top ten hits and collaborating with some of the biggest names in Latin music.

Isidro Infante is the most in demand producer in Latin music today. Known for his ability to create arrangements that become hits, Infante has produced some the biggest commercial hits for salsa stars Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, India, Tito Puente, Tito Nieves, Oscar D'Leon and Eddie Palmieri. Isidro Infante conducting his All-Star Salsa Orchestra is the perfect director for this stellar lineup at Lehman Center.

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is located on the Lehman College campus in the Bronx at 250 Bedford Park Blvd. W. Tickets cost $40, $35, $30 and $25, and can be purchased by calling the Lehman Center box office at 718.960.8833 (Mon. through Fri., 10AM-5PM and beginning at 12 noon on the day of the concert), or through 24 hour online access at www.LehmanCenter.org.
