The 42nd Annual Reno Jazz Festival returns to the University of Nevada, Reno campus April 22-24, 2004. World-class performers, music educators and thousands of jazz students from throughout the west will spend three days immersed in live-jazz performance, competitions and clinics. The Jazz Fan Ticket Package is now available, which provides entrance to all festival events, including daytime competitions, clinics and all evening concerts with preferred seating. General admission price for the package is $50; $40 for UNR faculty-staff and FTLOJ members.
The tradition of hosting the finest jazz artists continues as the festival features two jazz superstars on Thursday and Friday with evening concerts. Trombonist Robin Eubanks — named five times as No. 1 Trombonist of the Year — and The Collective will perform Thursday, April 22, 7:30 p.m. at Nightingale Concert Hall. An Evening with Joshua Redman, tenor saxophone master with a variety of firsts and bests (Best New Artist, Jazz Artist of the Year, Jazz Album of the Year, and No. 1 Tenor Saxophonist) will be held Friday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Lawlor Events Center. Jazz competitions and clinics will be held during the day on Friday and Saturday, April 22-23. A visitor’s pass for $7 per day is available for those wishing to only access group performance rooms. The festival closes with the Festival Showcase and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. in Lawlor Events Center. The showcase will include encore performances by some of the best groups and soloists at the festival. Individual tickets for the Festival Showcase and Awards Ceremony are $12 general; $10 senior; and $6 student.
