New London jazz venue

A new jazz venue the Lush Bar has started up at 235 Upper Street in Islington. It aims to promote a vast array of new young talent coming through the Guildhall and Middlesex Jazz colleges and act as a forum the young, up and coming jazz musicians to demonstrate their talents and bring jazz to a young audience, many of whom are not regular visitors to jazz clubs. It takes place on Sunday nights and entrance is free. The programme will concentrate on bands performing their own material. Young British saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings who was recently featured in Jazz Review in an article that profiled ten up and coming British jazz musicians is appearing at the end of March. I don't think they have a web site yet but the contact number is 020 7704 6977.
