Feast of Freedom: Happy Passover to Jazzy Jews

As is my wont, I am preparing for tonight's seder by listening to Bob Moses' The Story of Moses (1987, Gramavision), a marvelous conceptual work that tells the story of the Jews' freedom from slavery and exodus from Egypt with help from the likes of Pat Metheny, Stan Strickland, Tiger Okoshi, beloved Boston storyteller Brother Blue, Don Alias, Lyle Mays, Bill Frissell, Kenwood Dennard, David Liebman, Lew Soloff, Bob Mintzer, Howard Johnson, and others.

We'll be a group of three dozen tonight at my cousin's house, and over the weekend I made a humongo batch of ultra-high-carb tzimmes (meat, carrots, and sweet potatoes with brown sugar and honey), and am looking forward to my four cups of the sweet stuff.

To all celebrating this feast of freedom (and matzah-caused constipation), may it be a joyful and meaningful week.

I had no idea Moses had that much help. ;-)

Happy Passover!

The Seder is the best religious celebration around and I'm not religious!

Ana a happy pesach to Milton Rajonsky and Julius Gubenko

Also to Benny Goodman, Manny Kline and all them other cats out there.

The same from me--happy Pesach!

GG--LOL! Get some whole wheat matzah with bran (if you can find it).

I was invited to a second-night seder that got canceled, and I have no first-night seder to go to either. I'm about to engage in a longstanding tradition: trying to find a seder at the last minute. I often succeed.

May the Almighty spare your initial progeny.

I can't wait for Easter myself, since Carm (a Protestant) weirdly did the Catholic thing and gave up soda for Lent. She's jonesing for it like a fiend, so I am hoping for a quick Passover week. We need to carbonate and caffeinate the byatch.

I self-flagellated last night. I'm a seder-masochist.

I couldn't have phrased it better myself ... "Happy Passover to Jazzy Jews".

May it be a joyful, meaningful week without constipation or other distractions.

Bobby Moses was a good choice, GG.
