Chief Bey - R.I.P.
Chief Bey has made his Spiritual Transition at the age of 92 - His
Funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, April 13th at 6:00PM at the
Friendship Baptist Church on Herkimer, between Nostrand and Bedford.
Chief Bey was a Master of the African Drums was one of the strong
leaders of Baba Olatunji's Drums of Passion. His work with Randy
Weston and Art Blakey helped introduce the African drum into jazz.
Chief Bey now joins his fellow brother/drummers Baba Olatunji and
Baba Ishangji who made their transtions last year.
