I was wondering if the photo is really a video capture of a morning routine designed to relieve the orca's stress so he doesn't bite of the head of little Johnny later that day......
(my source was the fine website www.geekpress.com)

Brian--
Here's a guess: Go to the Edit screen for #1, and in the code for your image, see whether http:// appears twice. If so, delete one of them, and check for that in the future.

Nope, it's only there once. I do notice that if I close my net screen, then re-enter, I also get the red x. It's only if I visit the site itself and, I presume, have the image stored in the computer's memory, that the lovely picture reappears here.

Next time I'm called a whale, I'll take it as a compliment.

Brian, save the image on your computer and post it as an attachment.

Just out of curiosity, can y'all see the photo here, or do you see the red x? All I did was copy the URL from #1 and surround it with the opening and closing IMG codes; I didn't visit the site.
Edit: Nope, after a few times, I get a red x here too. Jazzoline, it's probably too big to be accepted as an attachment.

Rita, if I close and re-open IE, I get the red x on your post also.
(I'm glad everyone is taking the time to ensure that the world is not deprived of this image.....)

I've explained this on various visual threads. You get the red x because the site doesn't allow remote linking. The poster can see it because the image is in his cache. If one's browser is set to use cached images/pages, that will happen. If you reset your browser options to always go to the site for every request, then you too should see the red x on the JC page.

Oh well. So the site is:
http://hinterlands.cc/images/whale50.jpg
edit: huh--wait. so that gets you to a message not to link to his site. I guess you just have to cut and paste the above into your address window. Wonder how the guy at geekpress bypassed this.

I note from elsewhere a suggestion that the image has been "fixed." The main question being "are whales ever circumcised?"
And I thought this might be a slow day!

Why aren't all the sites that prohibit remote linking considerate enough to tell us so? Then we'd be spared the heartbreak of seeing a red x instead of, say, a Moby dick. Some sites actually say, "Sorry, you can't right-click on this image."

I can see it each & every time. Not bad... Any more marine-mammal porn, Brian? btw, why is Billy Bob's well-endowedness public knowledge? Was he dating a JC'er?

Hey, it's Monday, known around NYC as marine-mammal porn day. I forget exactly where I heard about Mr. Thornton's supposed endowment, but sometime back I'm pretty sure I read that he was next in line in Hollywood once Uncle Miltie kicked the bucket. Could've dreamt it, I suppose.

Yes, and circumsizing whales is considered a good job. The pay stinks, but the tips are big.

Forrest Tucker, eh? No, hadn't heard. Might explain the pained look frequently seen on Larry Storch's face though.

I was just googling and, though unable to find references to Thronton, came across several concerning a sculpture (plaster cast?) of Berle made in the 50s (whereabouts currently unknown) that was reasonably prodigious.
I believe Regis Philbin was the designated member measurer at the time.

An anecdote from Mamie Van Doren's website (I think I posted this once before, and no doubt in response to an Olewnick post):
My old friend, the late Forrest Tucker was rumored to have one of the biggest cocks in Hollywood. He was a tall, good-looking guy with blond hair and a great tan even in his mid-sixties, and it wouldn't have been surprising. Forrest and I were in a show back in the mid-1980's, and after a performance one night we took a limo to a Polynesian restaurant for drinks and dinner. On the ride to the restaurant, I asked him if all the rumors were true and he told me the following story.
Forrest and another actor were drinking at Slapsy Maxy's, a famous Hollywood watering hole back in the 1940's owned by the prizefighter, Slapsy Maxy Rosenblum. On this evening everyone got pretty well oiled and there was considerable bragging about sexual exploits. It finally got down to the size of their penises. The argument got more and more serious, and by closing time, money started getting thrown on the bar and a sizable bet was made. Slapsy rummaged around under the bar and came up with a ruler, and the contestants unzipped to settle the matter then and there.
"I pulled mine out, Mamie," Forrest told me while the limo driver strained to hear from the front seat, Aand it was between eleven and twelve. I thought I had the bet won! Then this guy who could not have been more than five feet three or four hauled his out..."
He paused for effect. "And? And?" I asked.
"And it hung over the end!"
"Who was it, Forrest?" I asked.
He grinned. "Never underestimate those short guys. It was George Raft."
