Shills

Don't these PR people posing as illiterate adolescents realize how transparent they are?

Or maybe they're illiterate adolescents posing as PR people.

More likely shills paying illiterate kids some measly wage to do their typing for them.

I don't think the political comment by Other Steve makes any sense but that's for an Alley discussion.

I think that the moderators should remove threads started to promote a cd by any poster whose lifetime # of posts is < 50.

To the opening post, I think it's the latter.

In my going on 10 years of doing radio and producing a program, have dealt with a vast majority of professional publicists, agents, and the like, and the minority who *sound* like our Mancini peddler.

On those occasions when we've even attempted a project was doomed by the outset...poor communication, cluesless, poor approach, UNprofessional.

Have you guys checked out Pete C's posts? I just started reading them recently, and I'm really impressed. His BBS writing is so awesome. Have you guys checked out his book yet? I've never met Pete, but I think his book is really great.

Let's talk about your favorite posters. Catch ya later!

Just so there's no confusion, I deleted the crabby little fit of pique to which Gordon refers in posts 3 and 4. Gotta watch that...

Sergio,

Pete is one of the best guys to hang out with (so is Jimmy Cantiello). We've gotten together three times and I hope to get to the Apple this year and do it again.

Pete's memory is uncanny. Don't ever challenge him!

Plus, the cat knows good food.

Just so there's no confusion I deleted post 4 but kept the identical post 3. Or did I delete post 3 and keep post 4?

I watched part the extremely vomitacious "Kid's Choice Awards" on Nickelodeon the other day with my older daughter. It had 4-year-olds posing as illiterate adolescents posing as shills. E.g., there were teeny boys and girls apparently trained to scream and pant for Hugh Jackman like 14-year-old girls used to cry for the Beatles. And many of the "awards" were obviously rigged--not kid's choices at all: just tie-ins with soon-to-be released movies. Grotesque.

Guys, you can just PM Lois or I with any "shill threads" and we'll dispose of it with a quickness.

Mone -- For what it's worth, apart from using up Lois's memory space, I normally find the shill threads funny as hell because they're so stupid, and also, because apparently they don't read the responses after making the posts. It's probably cost them more to pay illiterates (assuming it's not the shill himself that's one, probably not a safe assumption) to post here than they'd make back in purchases from JCers in several centuries.

It looks like the Mancini thread and its creator are gone.

Does this mean that I can't shill for my son Jerry's (who goes by the stage name J.C. Hopkins) great Biggish band featuring James Zoller, Claire Daly and a whole bunch of fine NYC players playing his songs, appearing regularly in NYC.

I wish shilling were allowed 'cause then I would tell you that.

Hmmm. Looks like Mancini has disappeared again. Does this mean Mancini is banished from JC? Oh, the horror!
