Tigers/Indians Grand Buffet
If Reynolds isn't gonna post about music, baseball threads should exist in which at least one of the teams have beaten Torre's Brinks Bombers in the postseason. Tigers get top billing because they won today; it's all timing.

And I'll be there tomorrow; was there last night as Sabathia rang up win #1. Lack of a clutch hit today was the rule; bases loaded with one out followed by two K's.

I'm afraid we're going to see a lot of that this year, but I'm hoping the kids will get better as the season goes on.
I'd like to see Escobar get a lot of at bats this year. Martinez is going to hit, as will Gerut. It seems as if Hafner and Broussard are much more comfortable at the plate this year as well. If Escobar can reach a majore league production level, I think the additions of Sizemore, maybe a free agent or two, and Guthrie next year, could spell a division title....

Nice to see Maroth off to a 2-0 start, after going 9-21 last year.

Maroth's start is nice, and it will help to get Urbina rolling once he gets his legs.
Gonna win 59 games. Gonna score 600 runs.
Just a poor man's Steve Reynolds,

Escobar was way over-hyped when he was a Mets' prospect. He was one of those five-tool guys who didn't produce at the plate. So far this year he has more K's than total bases.
I can't wait for the first Cleveland-Detroit series.
Who to root for?

Speaking of madness, what the hell have ya been listening too lately? I, among others, am clearly in need of some direction & supervision.

Matt Lawton, baby!!! Nice to see the bats come alive in clutch situations today. Still a problem with some of the stiffs in the bullpen; Cressend pretty much stunk when he came in to replace Cliff Lee, who ran out of gas in the sixth after a good performance. Glad that David Riske appears to be back; right now he and Rafael Betancourt are the only reliable members of the pen.

Yeah, its too bad about the pen. I thought with a healthy Wickman, that would be one of the team's strong points this year. Hopefully, Jimenez will find his stuff at some point. He will, he's a veteran.
This is the first year with the Tirbe that Lawton has been healthy. Let's hope he keeps it up.
Do you know how Brandon Phillips is doing in AAA?

No and I'm pretty interested in finding that out myself; I'll do some digging and let you know. I liked him a lot last year until he got all weird about being sent down. When you're hitting a buck seventy-five that shouldn't come as a shocker.

Man, the last thing we needa round here is another dilution of the main baseball thread.
Especially from teams destined to finish fourth and fifth....

Oh yeah, the Angels get over once on those postseason overachievers on the Giants and all of a sudden they're the second coming of the fucking Yankees.

Chris, nobody asked you punk. And I would pipe down because the White Sox haven't exactly been overacheiving the last few years...At least the Indians have a "plan", which is more than I can say for your team.

Apparently, the Tigers tallied four in the first before the rain started. Wonder if they'll count, or vanish into the baseball ether.

They'll get this one in; the rain is prolly gonna be off and on. Mainly off.
Bo, Brandon Phillips is batting .389 in Buffalo with one dinger; it's only through like 7 games but it's a start in the right direction.

Wouldn't .389 be his on-base percentage? Looks like he's batting .276. (Baseball America has mondo minor league stats.)

At the Indian's site they had him at 7 for 18; yours might be updated quicker, bt.

wow, one of the stranger pitching box scores I've ever seen from Cleveland tonight. Westbrook pitches 7 perfect innings, and they still give up 10 runs? damn.

Not counting this post:
Bosox Luncheon: 8.125 posts per Red Sox win.
Tigers/Indians Grand Buffet: 2 posts per Tigers+ Indians win.

The Tigers are a "clutch" team, Jon. No doubt about it.
Never passing up an opportunity to rub it in when he's right about the clutch argument, even when he hasn't actually done anything to prove that he is,
Larry

This is item #1 on my list of complaints about Wedge's management; Betancourt had pitched 2 full innings the day before. Why he threw him in after Westbrook (I don't mind him lifting Westbrook at that point, btw) I can't figure out. Maybe we should call him the reincarnation of Billy Martin, only doing it to relievers instead of starters.
