Time's world top 20 influential entertainers

Time Magazine picks world top 20 most influential entertainers ( part of the world's top 100 influential people ).

Time uses a very loose definition of influence
"they have explored new territory, set new standards—and made the world an immeasurably richer place for all of us".

Here is the list. Any Jazz entertainers there that you recognize :-)

we really shouldn't even dignify them by talking about it. as someone who worked at Time for ten years, I'm still somewhat in shock that they left John Cage off their "100 Most Influential of the Century" list, in favor of, among others, Bart Simpson. should I mention again how glad I am not to work there anymore?

Katie Couric?????????????????????????????????????????

About the only standard she's set is the weekly hairstyle change in a completely futile effort to hide the fact that she's becoming a dessicated old dipshit without half the skill and intelligence of Bryant Gumbel's little toenail in her entire empty not-even-worthy-of-skullfucking head!

I remember the 100 thing. What I couldn't get over was how American the list was. It seemed like a list of every significant American of the last century, with a few foreigners sprinkled in for some added flavor.

Jerry Bruckheimer, Mark Burnett, Simon Cowell, Ken Kutagari…!!!!?!?!? Those guys could be the Four Horseman of the Cultural Apocalypse as far as I’m concerned. The mag (or should I say rag) can’t be serious!

Well, the key qualifier is "influential".
