Superb!

He is using the "s" word!

"You are doing a superb job. You are a strong secretary of defense, and our nation owes you a debt of gratitude."

Jesus--what do you have to do to fail in his position?

According to an ABC News Poll taken on Friday, only 20% of Americans think Rumsfeld should resign. Although 25% of Americans are not merely disturbed but "angry" about the abuse of Iraqi prisoners. Which I suppose makes Jazzooo's question even more pressing. How badly does Rumsfeld have to fail before a majority of Americans will countenance his resignation?

I am reminded of seeing a photograph of Bill Clinton embracing Monica Lewinsky, back when that scandal first broke. My wife and I looked at each other and said "He'll have to resign!" What did we know.

Someone, I forget now who, but a Republican whom I don't necessarily disagree with here, said that since we're in the middle of fighting two wars, it's not the best time to change the guy leading the charge. Now, I don't necessarily agree with that, either, but if Rummy is impelled to resign, or is fired (which seems very unlikely), I'd like to know first who's in line to take his place, how quickly and smoothly the transition can transpire, and what's the plan moving forward.

If Rumsfeld resigns, and by some freak of nature Bush appoints Wolfowitz, we'd all better be fitted for fatigues. He is one belligerent bastard.

As much as I dislike the self-important, know-it-all Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz as Secretary of Defense would represent a change tantamount to jumping from the pot into the fire.

I would give anything to see The Donald walk up the this Donald and say ......

"I think you are probably deep down inside an OK guy but ... YOU'RE FIRED!"

Rummy and Wolfie should go..........re-assign Powell to Defense. Move Condi to State (she can't cause any more damage there than where she already is.....and she's more accountable)

I like it!

It's probably not worth impeaching Bush at this point; all we need to do is redefeat him.

What BF and bn said. That would be a potentially huge improvement until November, while providing a new president with something to work with, perhaps.

I hope Rummy sticks around because then maybe enough of the voters will have enough sense to kick those bastards out.

Yeah. Makes sense, doesn't it?
Of course, that's the LAST thing that they would do........make sense.
