Jason Moran sells - Chairs, a pair of Eames' DCW
Enjoy great music while sitting in great chairs. I'm currently liquidating a few pieces from my massive chair collection. I would hope that a fellow jazz enthusiast would give them a new home. The chairs are on view at EBAY.

This is quintessential modern design, and has been a huge influence on how I interpret music. Thanks.

I'm looking for the irony in Jason Moran pimping chairs at a jazz site.
How many chairs are we talking in your collection, JaMo?

I stole an Eames splint from my parents' home in college and have yet to return it. They've asked repeatedly, but it's already mounted in my dining room. Your opinions about the music would be appreciated around these parts, Jason.

Glad to know the splint is adorning your dining room. I got one a couple of years back. I bought it while surfing online in a hotel while I was out with Osby. Anyway, I have a total of 17 chairs. It's rediculous. The reason i'm selling these two is because I already have 3 similar versions of this chair , one in the rare rosewood. So, i figure, maybe some jazz folk would be into the type of collecting I wish I could do. Tomorrow i'm attending an art opening, and they're putting Duke Ellington's piano up for sale. I know I won't buy it. But hey, at least i'll get a gander at it up close. I remember seeing Antique Road Show, and this woman found a box filled with James P. Johnson original scores, hats, sheet music, etc. it was amazing. I know a lot of musicians collect a lot of strange things. Sometimes some more interesting aspects of music are discussed away from the music. Anyway, i'm ranting, and really, it's all about Eames. I met a very famous French designer Pierre Paulin. He's absolutely amazing, and his thoughts about furniture design are similar to what many gifted musicians say about their music. Again, i rant. Just thought some jazz folks would be interested.

It's nice to know your aesthetic sense extends beyond your music, Jason.

I'm up in Woodstock, and have just finished playing a trio concert with Don Byron and Jack DeJohnette. It was the first time performing with Jack, and it was truly a remarkable experience. The swells were immense. Tomorrow we start recording it. Look out for this project, under Don Byron's name, and will be on Blue Note. Oh yeah, chairs are still for sale. Own modern design history.

Sounds very interesting! Will be looking out for it!
Maybe the Jason Moran sells-Chairs thread should be moved to Jazz News!

So will I.
Jason - if you're reading this, although the rest of the show was a bit of a letdown for me I really enjoyed your performance of the "Moran Tonk Circa 1936". I think I was among the few who were happy Norah Jones didn't/couldn't make it so you had a chance to play (this refers a combination of French Jazz awards of some kind and Blue Note festival that took place two weeks ago, I think). I will also try to catch Bandwagon at the NSJ.

I want to respect Jazzcorner and leave this under classified. Even though I may divulge news of some sort, I'm still trying to sell something. As for the awards show in France, yes, it was an interesting show. It was cool sitting through an awards show in a foreign language. But after the first hour, the initial "coolness" wears off, and by hour 3, it's time to hang it up. It was a nice vacation for my wife and I. And yes, The Bandwagon will be at North Sea this year. That is always a fun hang. oh yeah, and Eames chairs for sale on ebay. until then, laytah.
