Title/Description under name
Hi all,
I am jealous of Mone getting to be "Resident Techie." I'd love to be able to label myself as "Lacking in Talent" or "Armchair Musician" under my name in posts. Any chance of opening this up to us hoi polloi?

Lois, it's in the administrative control panel. Do a search for your name, overwrite "Administrator" in the User Title and select "Yes" on "Use Custom Title." I'll see about getting "occupation" on the left hand side there.

Please give us the option of having the "occupation" line not appear. Otherwise, those of us who don't want to list one will just have a blank space after "occupation."
Lois, in all honesty, I think that we'll wind up with 599 joking fake occupations and maybe two real occupations. Would you really like to see that?

Ok I'll go with Bluenoter on this - I just thought it would be kind of interesting to see at a glance where people live and what they do....

I was just going to start a thread about this.
I think it would be cool if we could choose our own descriptions, rather than have our occupation.
I was thinking that we should use various insults that have been hurled on JC:
Minion
Non-playing asshole
Queen Bee (for Reynolds)
Young punk Elvin clone
Jazz Anti-Christ (not really an insult here)
and so on.

I didn't mean real occupation - you'll note that the two examples I gave are "Lacking in Talent" and "Armchair Musician." I do like being able to have a little subtitle to my name, and this fits the bill nicely. If those like bluenoter don't want it, then make it optional, to be sure.
If nothing else, I'd use to to list some favorite artist/instrument/descriptive tag. I think it's worth having, and if it gets used for fake jobs, so what? If that's a problem, then require handles to be our real names, too.

Tanager, I didn't mean to be a killjoy, but Lois did seem to have real occupations in mind, and I wanted to point out to her that IMO, that's probably not what we'd get.
If people are interested in having a descriptive line, how about an untitled descriptive line where people could list their occupations, their funny characterizations, or anything else? All I ask is that it be optional.

Yeah; me too. I wanna put you know like Mr. or Your Majesty, King, something-or-other. Not having this option is an outrage!

I am totally in support of making it optional.
