Good call, Rob. I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out.
Hilarious!!
The only others I'd add to these already fine lists would be the Mount Everest Trio.

Cool, someone else here has a sweet tooth for the Lansdowne scene. Kenny, there's a pretty long thread over at AAJ about the Rendell-Carr albums. I've got to hold off on these for now but placed an advance order for Mike Westbrook's Celebration, Neil Ardley's Greek Variations, and Impressed With Gilles Peterson Vol. 2. Would be nice to hear if anyone else is interested.

You can't be a loser and dig Hamid at the same time. It's intellectually impossible.

What if I started a "Top Ten Non-European Jazz Musicians" thread, or if Kenny Weir started a "Top Ten Non-Australian Jazz Musicians" one? Just a matter of perspective ...

What would be wrong with that?
Also keep in mind that Jazz WAS created in America. Now there's some perspective for you.

Yes, Mo Noyz, and it's being created all over the world today. So I wonder if non-Americans should be seen as something exotic - just as Americans shouldn't be. So I vote for a Top Ten Musicians (regardless of origin) thread. Sorry if I'm being sensitive about the subject.

Slightly oversensitive as if you follow the discussions and many top-ten lists, you will see that few of the regular posters make/demonstrate a mind-set prone to such differential classification on the basis of racial/ethnic origin.

Hamid was born Hank Drake in Monroe, Louisiana, so technically he's a Southerner!

We let you have him technically, Dennis, as long as his soul may belong to chi-town.

Well, I can dig what you're saying. I think you may be taking it a little too personlly. I don't think the intent of this thread was to cast non-American Jazz musicians as something exotic.
