Morning Glory

Well every morning if I'm lucky
and the stars have all aligned
I awake to something glorious
that kind of blows my mind

It's large and kinda daunting
and impressive as all heck
and when I think of it's wonder
it drains the blood right from my neck

and when someone's laying bside me
and just sleeping quietly
sometime I have to wake her
and say to her quite brightly

honey would you look at this
wow it's really kinda neat
and if you look at it from down here
well it really cant be beat

It's pretty big she'll say
and in it's own way kinda great
"I'm glad you woke me"she'll say
"I'm glad I didn't have to wait"

Now for all you people
who's mind is in the gutter
I'll make it clear right here and now
about the thing of which I mutter

Tis the rising sun of which I speak
which comes every new day
and when i thinks of what this world really is
well it takes my breath away

Morning Glory
by LArry Beckett-Tim Buckley

I lit my purest candle close to my
Window, hoping it would catch the eye
Of any vagabond who passed it by,
And I waited in my fleeting house

Before he came I felt him drawing near;
As he neared I felt the ancient fear
That he had come to wound my door and jeer,
And I waited in my fleeting house

"Tell me stories," I called to the Hobo;
"Stories of cold," I smiled at the Hobo;
"Stories of old," I knelt to the Hobo;
And he stood before my fleeting house

"No," said the Hobo, "No more tales of time;
Don't ask me now to wash away the grime;
I can't come in 'cause it's too high a climb,"
And he walked away from my fleeting house

"Then you be damned!" I screamed to the Hobo;
"Leave me alone," I wept to the Hobo;
"Turn into stone," I knelt to the Hobo;
And he walked away from my fleeting house

All your dreams are made when you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade
Today's the day that all the world will see
Another sunny afternoon, walking to the sound of your favorite tune
Tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon

Need a little time to wake up, need a little time to wake up, wake up
Need a little time to wake up, need a little time to rest your mind
You know you should so I guess you might as well

What's the story morning glory, well
Need a little time to wake up, wake up well
What's the story morning glory, well
Need a little time to wake up, wake up

All your dreams are made, when you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade
Today's the day that all the world will see
Another sunny afternoon, walking to the sound of my favorite tune
Tomorrow doesn't know what it doesn't know too soon

Need a little time to wake up, need a little time to wake up, wake up
Need a little time to wake up, need a little time to rest your mind
You know you should so I guess that you might as well

What's the story morning glory, well
Need a little time to wake up, wake up, well
What's the story morning glory, well
Need a little time to wake up, wake up, well
What's the story morning glory, well
Need a little time to wake up, wake up, well
What's the story morning glory, well
Need a little time to wake up, wake up

Isn't anyone going to contribute Saunders King's '(What's the story) Morning glory'?

I would, but... er... I can't remember where I left the album.

Morning Glory (Kay/Zender)

All of my visions were untrue
'Til I had a vision of you
And untimely end for all
But it was only then
Only then that I saw
Saw the morning glory
Can't you take me there
Can't you take me there
Away from soliloquies of sadness
And prophecies of pain
For us all to see
I had a vision in my mind
I had a vision of peace
I had a vision of you

Nice poem, Henry! Ever eat morning glory seeds, back when? 'Flying Saucers' and 'Heavenly somethingorothers' were the varieties that worked.

Bobby Gentry's Morning Glory is on Bill Evan's Live in Tokyo. Without lyrics on that occasion.
