I bid you all a fond farewell; off to fight the "good fight"

Well, folks, I've been but a minor contributer since last December, but you've certainly increased my already strong appreciation for jazz. Organissimo and allaboutjazz have stellar forums as well, but like a virgin, this board was my first, and I remain in its debt.

The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit is in the process of leaving the States and setting up shop in central Iraq. Whoever said "war is hell" was probably right. I guess I'll find out first hand. With nothing but an M-16, my fellow Marines, and 15 gigabytes of jazz (all copied from cds that I purchased, no need to lecture!) at my disposal, it's bound to prove an interesting and dangerous time. God forbid my laptop crashes on me. Then I might actually have to work.

Stay committed to the music (as if I have to say it), this board, and the jazz community at large. And while you're at it, vote for John Kerry. He won't get us out of this mess, but he can at least mop some of it up.

I look forward to perpetuating our music in the Middle East. See you some time from now, and thanks for letting me be a part.

Godspeed.

Take care while you're over there, and try to learn something about the world... but, most of all, come back man.

It shouldn't have, but this thread caught me by surprise.

Take good care, keep listening to this magical music, and remember that even those of us who are opposed to what's goin' down at the hands of this administration still have great admiration and support for Americans such as you.

You've been a fine contributor here, and we'll welcome you back soon, hopefully.

All the best, young man.

I speak for everyone here that we hold you in our hearts and prayers. We wish you a peaceful and a safe journey while you're there and a speedy trip back.

I understand that there is email there so if you have a chance, if you could just post a line now and then to tell us how you're doing, I'll make this thread a sticky.

We're also honored that Jazzcorner was you're first. If you need more music while you're in Iraq or to turn some of those Marines on to jazz, let us know and I'm sure all of us, we'll find a way to get it to you.

If you can't post, but only email - write to me at lois@jazzcorner and I will post of your behalf. Whatever you need....

Peace and blessings to you and your family.
Lois

Without question!! I have been involved with some absolutely incredible women from my workplace whom I have assisted in sending things to Iraq for(they have husbands over there).

Music? Thats nothing.

Mention it, and I will assist Lois as MUCH as financially possible that it get done!

MM: all the very best of luck to you. Definitely share the jazz, man. I'm happy to contribute music, too. Say the word, and I'll do what I can, (but the impossible might take a little while).

Take care of yourself. Our thoughts are with you.

Keep your head down, MM. I wish you all the best fortune and good courage and the fastest possible safe return home. I've appreciated your contributions here. Semper Fi, man. Take good care of yourself and your brothers.

Like Lois said, let us know if you need anything. We can always email you some new music files if you want some. Or whatever. Email Lois and let us know.

Watch out for those fucking sand fleas, man.
