Top that, Michael Schaumann
I hate to break the news, buddy, but a senseless shooting during the fireworks celebration in downtown Detroit yielded 9 wounded. That's a midseason push for the upcoming America's Most Dangerous City award that pretenders to the throne like D.C., Gary, Baltimore and The Loo may be unprepared to answer.
And I'm eyeballing a dozen custard Paczki right now, so don't get your hopes up about that *other* award any time soon, bubba...
Redifining misplaced pride,
Larry

Detroit where the weak are killed and eaten.
I enjoyed my time in Detroit, the Westward Avenue Cruise , eating in Greektown, riding that pointless mono-rail.

Okay. . .SLUH/CBC Metro Catholic Conference December '94 at archrival CBC:
On our end I get a great feed from the floater below the block and throw up this reverse lay-up under the hoop; in n' out (Hopper). Larry Hughes gets the board and skips out to Keith Hibbler. I, embarassed with my all fizz no gin attempt, fly downcourt, Bösendorfer on back. I'm on Hibbler (their 5, a very, very good player) crossing the time-line. Hibbler stops at the top of the arc, out of the corner of my eye I see Hughes sprint down the left wing, Hibbler (since stopped his dribble--entire rest of both squads still at the other end) turns around with ball in hand facing the other hoop and throws an over-the-shoulder blind alley-oop to Larry. It was an emphatic dunk. . .with one of those 'Nique two-handed hitches before impact.
Loren Woods, Chris Carawell, Kelly Thames and Ja-HEE-DEE (as he was known then) White all embarassed me as well, so look for more in the future. And I used to take bongrips w/Paul Pierce, so eat it Nagel. Fuck Joe Louis, I hate that place.

I never got an Ice Bird when I was a kid.
I'm still very bitter about that one.

Henry, if you ever come back, the beers are on me.
Schaumann, impressive. We'll call it a draw, with a rematch to follow once our organizers arive at a suitable payout.
Scott, if you ever come back, the Ice Bird is on me.
Doc, outstanding work!
tricky, they're not legal, strictly speaking. But I know a blind pig that hooks me up with those. Think the 6 Mile and Conant Buddy's back during prohibition, only they don't use the dough for pies.
Making the connections that count,
Larry

Paczki are doughnuts on steroids. Paczki are the preferred food in Derby, Connecticut. They have a Paczki eating contest every year to crown the new Paczki eating king/queen. Larry, thanks for reminding me of those wonderful little gems pronounced punch-key, or poonch-key, or, pooch-key, depending on where you're from in Poland................

Figures that Mr. Cantiello would be hip to this food item, too.

See what happens? When I visit Detroit, everything is wonderful--sunshine and flowers, beautiful people, fun, art, music and then I leave--well, it's a real shame!

drive to work, 8:00 rush hour, heat mirage ahead and hot coffee all up in the senses. downshift to 2nd and corner left to the turnaround, obligatory "STOP" (1/2 second variety) completed, continue into traffic. quick cut to right, change 3 lanes in the space of 1, getting prepped for soon-to-be-right-hand-turn to the office lot. glance up, slow moving (slow accelerating) SUV at 12 o'clock, acting as disappointing REV LIMITER. can't go fast, hurts me, worse yet, fast moving yellow compact approaching FAST at 6 o'clock. mr. little yellow feeling DICKISH, swerves to left and avoids collision at last possible microsecond, then flips bird.
no ordinary bird. not garden variety bird. sunroof open, full engagement of elbow COMPLETE ARM variety bird, maximum PISS ME OFF effect achieved. forget punch clock time to start shift, let anger guide me and FOLLOW mr. little yellow. focus, anger, varied and unusual forms of bird flipping heartily ENGAGED in by both, concludes with abrupt right and turnaround to office. work day starts, anger doesn't cool, stays hot, burns productivity, scorches efficiency, distracts, PREOCCUPIES for hours, finally subsides. rib snack for lunch, baby back, LOO VARIETY, consumed, only bone remaining. save bone, work day over, walk to car, drop LOO VARIETY baby back bone under tire (MOTOR CITY RUBBER), drive over bone in SYMBOLIC GESTURE (dig?).
DETROIT, DIG???
Upping the ante,
Larry

A little too DEEP-ish, Larry. Promising, though.
Can I start a "post like Michael Schaumann here" thread?

You critics are all the same. Having said that, can I buy a good review?
Above pretty much nothing,
