Today's Active Topics
Lois - is a 'Today's Active Topics' button/link programmable in this software? This feature is essential for me to be able to follow a bulletin board. The late 'board that dare not speak it's name' had one, which is partly why I spent more time there than on the old JC, but the Organissimo board now has a similar feature.
The 'View New Posts' feature doesn't do the the same job.

Obviously I'm not Lois, but I'm intrigued by your question, even more so by your apparent passion for this feature. I readily admit that I'm ignorant as to the importance or necessity for such a feature. Is it simply a factor of time and organization? Please enlighten us.
Thanks.

Father Thorne please don't yell at me that I'm up at this hour - I'm struggling with severe insomnia and a ton of work.
Now to the subject at hand... that will be in the second phase of building this board. I already put it in motion and am trying to find someone over the next few days.

You get to see all threads being posted on, across every forum, all on a single page, refreshable with a single click. Time is the factor - I don't have enough of it to keep entering different fora. The other benefit is, you can become aware of interesting threads you wouldn't have seen otherwise. The downside is it's too easy to spend more time than healthy online.
Readiness to expound on the subject notwithstanding, my actual 'passion' for the feature is limited to such an extent that I thought about deleting the thread immediately after posting it, for fear of appearing a nerdy-arsed geek. Too late for that now, I suppose.
In the meantime I'll stick to Speak Out and Record Reviews, I think.
Thanks for the feedback Lois (and for the sites, by the way - this and the old one).

Let's see, you desperately need this feature because you're so pressed for time, but the result of this feature is that you spend "more time than healthy online." Some might say there's a contradiction here. ;-)

Very simple....
1. Until recently I was able to browse all day to my heart's content during the day while at work.
2. I now have a new job where that isn't possible.
C. Evenings are mostly devoted to partner and young children.
4. With the 'it's too easy to spend more time than healthy online' comment, I was partly thinking of others.... you guys. I'm such a nice chap.
Mix all that up and you get my twisted logic.

As far as I can tell, what you're talking about *is* covered by the "View New Posts." I'm guessing what you want is to have it sorted by thread instead of post, is that it?

I don't think so. Today's Active Topics would show the most recent post in each thread for the whole day, not just since you last logged onto the board.
I'm starting to feel like a bit of a twat now. Lois seemed to understand, so I'll bow out. Um.... thanks for your interest. I'm off to the park to meet the children.

Hi -
First time poster here, but I've been active on some of the other boards. This one is very nice looking, and appears to appeal to a wide variety of tastes!
Can anyone tell me how to view "today's active topics"? I can't find a button/link to it on the main speakeasy page.
Thanks,
Erik

Hi Uli - Thanks for the response. I am using that feature currently. I just thought I'd ask about the "Today's Active Topics" option as well.
Not to re-open David's question, but I like "TAT" because it allows you to look at all active topics for that day, not just what's new since your last visit. If I visited two hours back, but want to respond to a thread that is three hours old, I don't have "easy" access to it, meaning I have to search through each forum, if I don't recall which one it was in off the top of my head.
Not a really big deal, but I like the "TAT" feature, combined with the little arrow things that take you to the most recent posts in a particular thread.
Thanks,
Erik
