Anger And your choice of music

Do you listen to angry music when you're angry?...or do you try to counter it with happy music?

I tend to listen to music that goes with my emotions at that time...angry, aggresive music when I'm pissed...happy, sweet music when I'm happy, etc.

Well, it appeared timely and descriptive after I happened to skim through that AMG review of "Metal Machine Music" again...

(See the What will history say thread for clarification.)

...I guess thats up to who ever is listening to it. Some free jazz sounds...angry to me..Pharoh Sanders or something....then there's Mudvayne and Slipknot, whom I'm not above listening to.

People always say this one is "spiritual," but I find it rather violent and enjoy listening to it when I get worked up.

early Brotzmann - For Adolphe Sax

wonderous, moving - but Herr Brotzmann sounds a bit peeved

Thanks - glad you noticed. After Jon hassled me for the King Crimson avatar I thought I should try something quite different.

If I'm angry, I don't think I'd spend a lot of time making a music selection. I'd just listen to whatever I have or nothing at all. It's not like I'm thinking 'oooh, i'm so angry. Let me play some Brotzmann or Starland Vocal Band' or whatever.

I'd have to say Dry Kill Logic, Godsmack, Slipknot, basically anything metal that's less than like 10 years old. That's pretty angry for me. Good pissed-offedness. Kind of helps the mood a bit, but keeps me from doing anything that'd get me in trouble. Something about a random stranger belting something out at the top of his lungs makes me feel better.
