WBGO Journal

Hi folks,

I'm very pleased to announce that the WBGO Journal will be featuring a spot, produced and narrated by John J. Cooper, about my work playing music in nursing homes and assisted living facilities and senior centers. (John is the latest fill-in deejay at WBGO Newark and also wrote the liner notes to my last CD, Nonchalant.)

It's a six-minute spot which contains interviews with one of my bosses in the recreational therapy department, some nurses, myself and of course some of the residents I play for on a regular basis at the Workman's Circle in the Bronx.

The WBGO Journal airs on Fridays from 6:30 to 7:00 pm (Eastern time). I don't know exactly what week it will be on, but it could be as early as this Friday evening. I also haven't heard the piece so it will be new even to me. I'm really thrilled about this!

As many of you already know I enjoy playing music just about every day for seniors, and the article I wrote about it, if anyone is interested, can be seen at the iaje website:

Thanks, Lois!

I was just informed by John J. Cooper, who' playing some beautiful music right now on WBGO as he fills in for Michael Bourne, that the piece won't be airing this week as expected due to a special on Nina Simone. It should air next week barring any further tragedies.
