Even I'm not that egotistic... I'm not sure what I did to get this post up twice, but it's a

Right. Don't ask me what happened, but it seems that the message of the same title down below this one is blank. So when I deleted this one I was actually not deleting a...

Oh stuff it. this is what I'd originally posted before I was so rudely interrupted...

Whilst fast winding through an old videotape a question suddenly sprang, unbidden, into that wild and crazy zone I call my conscious mind. Now that I come to ask it, I'm not sure if it should be posted here or in The Alley, but I post enough in the Alley as it is...

Over here we occasionally get jealous of US TV, then even more occasionally we catch some of the not-quite-as-good US imports very late at night, and consider ourselves very lucky that all we get is the best of US TV. One thing that we never seem to get from the US is live jazz, in fact live music of any kind.

Do you get live music programming? That's one thing we're pretty well served with over here, albeit most of it is pop or classical. Just wanted to know, that's all. If you do I can start demanding that our networks buy some of it up, and if you don't, the next time I feel a little jealous I content myself with the thought that you're also a little jealous of me...

When I cross our border out of the US, I try to spend as much time as possible (which ain't much when you're traveling and playing concerts) surfing the TV networks and radio stations, because there is so much live (usually pre-recorded, sometimes live from the venue) jazz.

Ain't much here ay tall. You are rather lucky.

I did catch a couple of seconds of Britney Spears live in concert today...

I find that I can watch a lot of artists when they're live that I wouldn't allow within 20 yards of my record player, but Britney... Nope. I caught her on a kid's TV show when she was over here promoting her 2nd single. 'Credit where it's due' I thought at the time. She was singing live, in a very weak voice, and a little disjointed as the dance routine seemed to be more important than the song.

Now suddenly she can bump and gyrate and still let rip in an amazing array of voices? As the technology improves it gets harder and harder to tell if it's real or Memorex, but I'm sorry, I don't care how many bood jobs she's had, it wouldn't make that difference to her voice.
