Dennis Kucinich Quits Race

Just when his campaign was gaining momentum, Dennis Kucinich has dropped out of the race and asked his supporters (hahaha) to vote for John Kerry.

It was a good fight, little guy.

Dennis J. Kucinich
On his priorities
from the NYT, Sept. 26, 2003:

"First, I would take action to stop the federal death penalty.
Second, I would move to cut the Pentagon budget by 15 percent, which would in no way affect adversely our national defense, and put the money into child care.
Third, I would move to create a Department of Peace, which would seek to make nonviolence an organizing principle in our society and to work with nations to make war itself archaic."

SDL--

If you support him, how about doing what he's asked his supporters to do--vote for John Kerry?

Kucinich supporters, Dean supporters, even Al Sharpton's supporters, are all going to vote for Kerry because they despise Bush. If Kerry wins the election, a majority of these people will turn on Kerry once he's been President for a year. Why? Because Kerry is a political hack with no vision, no personality, no principles and as President will be much less liberal than he was when his constituency was Massachusetts. He'll be the most indecisive President in the last two centuries. Whereas Bush listens to too few people, Kerry listens to too many.

Not indecisive, Gordon! Nuanced. Nuanced. Yeah, that's it: Nuanced.

I have to say I'm amazed at how terrible Kerry has been on the stump. Somebody write this man a speech, for heaven's sake!

I agree with you Gordon, except for a different reason: President Kerry is going to have to mop up after Bush's war and his gutting of the Federal system. These are thankless tasks, and he will not only not be thanked, he'll be regularly vilified for doing them.

Doc, you got it right. The biggest challenge Dull Johnny will have is to bring back the troops ASAP.

... and in the most reasonable manner possible. Problem is, I don't think Kerry has ever uttered the words "exit strategy".

I wish I agreed with this less than I do.

Still, I'll take someone who stands for nothing over someone who stands for all the wrong things.

I can't think of anyone who "stands for nothing" more than Shrub.

Well, if you think the imminent return of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is nothing!

Gordon B.,

This is not an attack, but is your opinion of Kerry formed by an indepth study of his public career (speeches, legislation proposed, voting record, etc) or is it merely anecdotal?

See I'm the first to admit that my vote for Kerry will be more of an anti-Bush action than from a great love for Kerry. Mainly because I depise about 90% of the things Bush's actions since he's been president. And I've played pretty close attention to what he's done. It's easier to follow the actions of a president than a senator from another state.

In 2000, I didn't have a clue to what type of president Bush would be. I did have low expectations (which he has exceeded), but I wasn't exactly sure. And I really don't have much of a clue as to what type of president Kerry would make. The crystal ball is too foggy. But I do know Bush's performance as president and I don't like it and I ain't gonna vote for him.

Ya know... "they" said all sorts of stuff like this about Truman, and guess what??? he rose to the occasion and proved them wrong. Give the guy a chance! He may be boring and indecisive, but at least he's GOT a BRAIN!

(not my first choice, by the way....)
