This is one of those "free and legal" MP3 sites, a great place to indulge in my secret vice: ambient recordings. Click here.

Thanks for the laughs, Pete. What a great site.

Now for another opportunity to give one of our kiddos a stroke. Justin's poplular website, Dubyaspeak.com has gotten attention and kudos from many sources, such as Yahoo!, The Guardian (U.K.), The San Francisco Chronicle, etc. Last week, his site garnered a mention in Newsweek magazine.

In addition to some interesting clothing, bumper stickers, clocks and the like, he's now produced a CD full of Dubyaspeakisms. There's a back-to-school sale through August 30th.

That's our boy!

Great site! Found this there:

Perhaps the most famous quote about beetles comes from the great population geneticist J.B.S. Haldane, who was asked what might be learned about a Creator by examining the world. His response: "an inordinate fondness for beetles" (Fisher, 1988).

Speaking of beetles-

Quote:
What's up with these so-called 'animal lovers'? And what are the animals they love? Here's my guess. First of all, let's take them at their word, and assume that when they say animals, they mean the whole lot. For example, when people say they're a 'people person', it would be surprising to hear them then go on to say they really only liked two people, and could give a shit about the rest, or maybe just the other 95%. So, let's start with what constitutes the largest phyla in animalia, Arthropods. Then, what's the largest class below that? Insects. How about the largest order in that class? Coleoptera (beetles). Then what's the largest family in coleoptera (in Canada let's say) that we can attach a name to (can't see people loving things that as yet are not known to science, i.e., "My fave animal is sp. indet.")? Carabidae. If we go further, we should not only love this family the most, but have a special fondness for Bembidion, the largest genus. So, when you hear of somebody calling themselves a 'animal lover', you'll now know what they truly love. And, of course, what I really love too.

And

Well, we have a new coleopterist in the family. And she goes by the name Audrey. Or Aud. Or by her common name, Odd Beetle, family Tenebrionidae. She'll like that. She's a good little 10 pound girl too. We love her so.

Not much else to say. Been away somewhat from my precious ground beetles. Need to get into a PhD soon. I can here the beetles call me back. "Who are we" they say. "Give us a name, a date, a locality, a collector, who are my relatives, what are my characteristic features, don't just leave us in the miscellaneous drawer with the dermestids". "Please..."

I love these guys!

There's also three music clips-
Ant Man Bee: Beefheart
Baked Beetles: Ivor Cutler
and my favorite-
Cyber Insekt: The Fall

The Apologist

The Apologist

I like this one from the Apologies to employers section-

Quote:
Through my employer I bought 56 new fleet cars and vans last year.

I did a secret deal with the supplier, passed him £1000 in cash and he spread the cost of a "57th" car across the invoice for others.

BTW, the car is still going well. Oh, and thanks for the free servicing too !

You picked my favorite! Often, though, Bernadel would carve a beautiful lion's head in place of the scroll.

Here's the web page of my son and heir to the family fortune. (He was having trouble with the e-mail to the site, but the rest seems to be functioning.) Now if I can only get him to post the pix from my birthday party!
