Oakland Jazz Choir Open Auditions

Audition scheduled to start at 10 AM and will consist of learning a part (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) ahead of time. Materials (sheet music and CD) will be available from the Oakland Jazz Choir office. Be prepared to stay a minimum of 4 hours for this audition.
Requirements: Ability to sing on pitch, strong feel for syncopation, solid ability to hold a harmony part, team-focused attitude, a love for jazz and the ability to commit to weekly Wednesday night rehearsals (7 - 10 PM). Vocal ensemble experience preferred. Sight-reading / music-reading is helpful, but not required.

The Oakland Jazz Choir is a performance group of 30 singers led by Artistic Director Stephanie Austin. OJC sings traditional and contemporary jazz with original arrangements. A $25/month dues is required. Work-study positions are available.
OJC has performed at such notable venues as Yoshi's, Kimballs East, The Great American Music Hall, and the SF Jazz Festival; and with special guests Madeline Eastman, Mark Murphy, Keith Terry, Faye Carol, Brenda Boykin and Terrance Kelly.
OJC is a project of Rhythmic Concepts, Inc., an Oakland-based non-profit corporation dedicated to the appreciation and preservation of jazz.
