Favorite Bailey & percussion setting

Hello all,

Derek Bailey always favored the guitar & percussion setting. Now I would like to ask, what is your favorite of all these options?

I did not list albums due to the fact that he has collaborated with a few of these musicians numerous of times.

Would any one like to elaborate about their choices?

I'll elaborate on my not voting: its too hard to pick. I love his work with both Stevens and Oxley and it is impossible to pick between the two. And it is really hard to compare those that have only happened one or two times on record, so far, like Bendian (Banter is a great record) and Ibarra (only heard Daedal, think its OK) or Eddie Prevost (Ore is a killer album!).

So, no vote from me...

I've actually never heard "Dart Drug", but I have fond memories of their participation in that Music Improvisation Company album on ECM which I originally purchased way back then (around 1973) solely due to Muir's presence (because of his work with King Crimson at the time). Unfortunately, I've long since lost the album *sniff* (has it been re-issued anywhere, mabe on a japanese label?).

Dart Drug is really good, maybe one of my favorite of the Incus g+p series in fact. Its much more quiet and subtle than what you get with someone like Han...but then again, what isn't!

Do remedy that! It's a really superb disc, a bit different from anything else of Bailey's I've heard.... A lot of long held notes that you can't even easily identify as guitar. Like a precursor to String Theory maybe but a far better album.

Ahh! I knew there was an absence from the options! I forgot to add Eddie Prevost! On well...

I voted for Han Bennink. I love his uncanny style of drumming & percussion.

As for Dart Drug, I never really enjoyed it too much. But I have to listen to it again, I only heard it once. My judgment may change.

Thanks for the replies!

I am going to create another poll soon.

Regards,

Alexander
