Jam Sessions
Hi everyone- The Magnolia jam session is continuing, with some great music for the next couple of weeks.
Tomorrow, August 3, I'll be featuring alto saxophonist Jaleel Shaw along with my trio. Shaw is a gifted musician and composer who works around town with his own band in addition to playing with people like Roy Hargrove and Phil Wilson.
The following week we will be joined by Tenor-saxophone player Wayne Escoffery. Wayne performs regularly with The Charles Mingus Big Band, Abdullah Ibrahim, Lonnie Plaxico and others. He has recorded with Pianist Eric Reed among others and just completed a one week engagement at the Village Vanguard with Ben Riley's Monk Legacy Septet.
For those who are new to this email list, Magnolia is a venue in Park Slope where I have been running a weekly jam session since last fall which features different guest artists every week. Musicians and listeners are welcome.
