I really like all of them, but I went with the "Quintessence" group.

I as well voted for the Quintessence line-up. Forty Minutes is one of the greatest performances ever done in SME.

Of these, probably the quintet w/Bailey and Carter. But the version that Bobby Bradford played with was pretty darn good, in a very different way (and no mention of Julie Tippetts!).

Of those I've heard, a toss-up between Quintessence and Karyobin, but I went with the surprisingly sweet sounds of the latter.

still have not heard the earliest - so I chose from later editions

I chose the last line-up with Butcher - I just love that album

I think I have all of those, but I can't think of which one I prefer.

i think the 'biosystem' line up and subsequent stuff minus colin wood is astounding and years ahead of its time.sme and chamberpot really anticipated the 'chamber' music of the 80's, 90's and 00's. and, if i were to really stretch the point, laid some of the foundations for some of the reductionist stuff that's about now. maybe that is stretching it a little but if someone can make the jump from charlie parker to amm (as i saw on another thread), then maybe it's kinda reasonable after all.

I voted for Withdrawl. "Seeing Sounds and Hearing Colors" is among my favorite pieces.
