Interesting... I had just read a really optimistic article about the situation in Burundi in this week's Economist - essentially making the point that it seemed the Tutsi and Hutu were both finally holding off from antagonizing each other, the economy is recovering, etc... This is really bad news, and a sign that this is still an explosive region of the world that deserves much more media attention than it receives.
On a related note, I've finally buckled down and begun reading Mahmood Mamdani's When Victims Become Killers, which so far is a very interesting read. Only on Chapter 2, though, so that's more based on the assumption that he will delve into all the things he discusses in the Introduction.
