Duplex Planet

Any fans of David Greenberger here?

I just picked up one of the books and a few back issues of the DP. I also got two of the CDs he's done, one with the Shaking Ray Levis and another with Terry Adams plus some members of the Q and Sun Ra's band.

Greenberger's thing is interviewing old folks in various states of decline and printing and performing the responses as monologs.

Interesting stuff.

I've got one disc that that I bought because of the presence of Terry Adams. Only a few short musical interludes but well worth it. It's the type of stuff that I wish Terry would do more of.

The monologues can be hilarious, though before I bought it I assumed it would be actual recordings of Duplex Planet residents and not re-readings.

The "Mayor of the Tennessee River" CD is with the Shaking Ray Levis. It's way over the top.

I've also got this one CD that I'm afraid to listen to. It's Jack Mudurian, a resident at the Duplex home, singing 120 pop tunes in 47 minutes. There's a excerpt of it on Irwin Chusid's "Songs in the Key of Z" CD. (Cardiac) arresting stuff.
