I changed my avatar...
For those that are unaware, I changed my avatar, but I am not too satisfied with this one
What do you members think? Should this one remain? Should I Use The John Butcher one again or a completley different one?

I've never changed mine though I *really* want to put up my cat (cats are popular these days I see). Mke advised against it. Silent, I think the color scheme is a little too close to the skins--maybe something with more colors or greater contrast with the surroundings. Just my two cents.

I'm not crazy about your new avatar, SK. Does it represent your Screen Name or you as a person in some manner? It's your call, obviously.
I've never changed mine, Tippy. No plans to in the future, either.

I think my Owl Jolson (from 'I Love to Singa', one of my favorite cartoons) is pretty cool

You're getting to be a young fogey, Crawjo! The kids don't call this Rock-Paper-Scissors any more -- they call it "Rochambeau," for reasons known only to The Gods of The Lesser Games. They held a Rochambeau World Championship here in Sonoma County last year -- I'm kind of surprised it didn't make the headlines in your home town.
Jay Vyas' book "Children's Games in Street and Playground" details various regional names by which the game is known, corresponding to the sounds with which the players synchronize their movements, thus "Rock Paper Scissor" becomes: 'ching chang cholly' (South London), 'chu chin chow' (Enfield),..., 'ick ack ock' (Croydon),..., 'eee pas vous' (Lambeth), and 'stink stank stoller' (Brixton).

I'm going to be launching a series of eye avatars in a few weeks. By then, cats will be *so* yesterday. But of course, Pokémon characters are forever.

I think I am going to use the album cover of Solo Guitar Vol.2 as an avatar for a good duration...

Tip, please be advised that a 2/3 vote of all JC members with over 1000 posts is required before you can even think of changing your avatar.
Thank you.

SK, I'm not sure which avatar is currently being displayed for you. It's not the Holland/Bailey album cover... is it the Solo Guitar Vol. 2 album cover? In any case the one I'm seeing now doesn't grab me. I can't tell what all that stuff is around the hand or what the hand is doing with it.
Tip, I love your avatar. Brian's and Ron's and Pete's are also fine, upstanding avatars. I don't think I'll ever change my green frog. It's become a sort of self-image for me (although in real life I don't resemble a green frog).

Mine is a detail from a Max Beckmann painting. I don't know why I use it. Maybe I'll change it. I've always liked Ron's peppercorns and mke's cats. The best part of Tippy's is the "Candyland" that goes with it. I like to think of Tippy as a resident of Candyland.

It is the Bailey cover and the items are things he (presumably) uses as guitar picks, including a couple of actual guitar picks.

My current avatar will help people to recognize me on the street. I don't resemble my canine namesake.

Silent, I'm not digging the new avatar. It creeps me out. It looks like a bunch of fingers. Tip, I love your avatar--it's you, baby. Bri, I love yours too, it always makes me hungry for some sticky pastry with that drippy iceing...yumm!
Pete, I'm not crazy about your dog avatar or the Pondexter one. I did love the Crumb drawing though. Your avatar doesn't have to "look" like you, or have your name somewhere. it can be representative of you too. I'd like to see something that you think says something about you "inside". Like when you had the Klee art. Ron, I dig yours. Boston, cute!
I'd like to have an avatar but I'm just not hip enough computer wise to put it together. I wouldn't mind something groovy from a Fellini film (my fave director) maybe Anita Ekberg for "La Dolce Vita". I just recently saw that again, and she was wonderful!! Or maybe Marcello (my fave actor).

I noticed that a lot of people have been changing their avatars. It's funny how used to some of them you get. I'm still looking for Banjo Boy on Clay/Ennis' posts.
In my case, my avatar is directly tied to my handle, although I suppose I could substitute a whale or a moose or other animals called gentle giants. But I like the musical connection. Maybe I could give the geezer a shave.

How about a close shot of the inside of a screaming mouth?
I'm glad you guys like my avatar. I guess I just got lucky that day.
Tanager, your new bird is terrific!
