Lois - importing old threads
Lois, I like the new board. Have you considered exploring an export of the old board and importing into the new?

Lois, the timestamp of messages is also a few hours off.

KC, If you go to your profile, you can edit the timestamp yourself.

Bob: Lois has asked around, and has been told more or less that it can't be done. Judging from what Lois explained to me, I have to agree. It's using a different scripting language and a different type of database.
I think the plan is to keep the old forums stored strictly as readable archives.

Wow, if that's true, and I have no reason to doubt yours or Lois' knowledge or research, what a major bummer! I know that Lois was working under the assumption that virtually everything could be exported to the new site, unaffected.
How would the "old" site be archived and accessed? Obviously, it would be a tragedy to lose much of what's contained at the "original" Jazz Corner Speakeasy. At least if there's a read-only archive, we could visit, reminisce, and cut-and-paste as necessary.

Thanks for the tip Dennis, I'm all better now.
From talking to Lois in the past, the old board was based on a SQL database. It likely could be exported and imported but perhaps with more resources needed than budget allows. Might take a knowledgable DBA and programmer to pull it off, not cheap.

That's a real tragedy. Shit.
I was afraid of that all along.
Poor Robin's thread has nearly 3,000 posts.
How and where can we access those old threads?

I have no idea, other than that it will be converted to Php, so it will probably look a heck of a lot different. Frankly, that's a nightmare task I would be loathe to undertake. It will be accessible in some format and linked here as archives (as I understand it).
Gary: Give it some time. That's one huge honkin' database.
