Song lyrics that describe you
Better than one you pick yourself is a song that someone else thinks describes you. Best of all is a song your significant other thinks describes you (they know you best).
Think and post!
Hoping he can escape this without actually posting his own,
Larry

Lets see now. My fav. song when I was very much younger was from my fav. rocker Dion. The Wanderer. Dating my first Wife in High School and then marrying I would have to say that would be a song describing me the best at the time and latter in years by her and why she has the X in front of Wife.
Now to . present Wife. A lot of songs come to mind ,maybe -To No Him Is To Love Him- , but she keeps always saying to me - You're So Vain.,, so I quess I'll put that one down. Now if you spoke to her she might ask you if there is a song out called-- Mr. Idiot .(ô¿ô) (Õ¿Õ) ©¿©¬ (å¿å) (ë¿ë)

Birds flyin' high you know how I feel
Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by you know how I feel
It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me
And I'm feelin' good
Fish in the sea, you know how I feel
River runnin' free you know how I feel
Blossom on the tree you know how I feel
It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me
And I'm feelin good
Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean don't you know
Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done that's what I mean
And this old world is a new world and a bold world for me
And I'm feelin' good
Stars when you shine you know how I feel
Scent of the pine you know how I feel
Oh, freedom is mine, and I know how I feel
It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me
And I'm feelin' good

Probably from "Search and Destroy" by the Stooges:
I'm a street walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm
I'm a runaway son of the nuclear A-bomb
I am a world's forgotten boy
The one who searches and destroys
Kinda suits me to a tee.

Some people, they like to go out dancing
And other peoples, they have to work, just watch me now.
And there’s even some evil mothers
Well, they’re gonna tell you that everything is just dirt
Y’know that women never really faint
And that villains always blink their eyes, woo!
And that, y’know, children are the only ones who blush
And that, life is just to die
But anyone who ever had a heart
They wouldn’t turn around and break it
And anyone who ever played a part
Oh wouldn’t turn around and hate it!

Take me out to the ballgame,
Take me out to the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I ever get back.
For it's root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes you're out
At the old ball game.

Hm, following Bivins lead I’m gonna have to go with a little number by ZZ Top:
Well I was rollin' down the road in some cold blue steel,
I had a blues man in back, and a beautician at the wheel.
We going downtown in the middle of the night
We laughing and I'm jokin' and we feelin' alright.
Oh I'm bad, I'm nationwide.
Yes I'm bad, I'm nationwide.
Easin' down the highway in a new Cadillac,
I had a fine fox in front, I had three more in the back.
They sportin' short dresses, wearin' spike-heel shoes,
They smokin' Lucky Strikes, and wearing nylons too.
'Cause we bad, we nationwide.
Yeah we bad, we nationwide.
Well I was movin' down the road in my V-8 Ford,
I had a shine on my boots, I had my sideburns lowered.
With my New York brim and my gold tooth displayed,
Nobody give me trouble cause they know I got it made.
I'm bad, I'm nationwide.
Well I'm bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, I'm nationwide.

Edit. Upon reflection, this seems more appropriate:
I walk around
I flop around
I need something that will be found
More venom, more dynamite, more disaster
I need more than I ever did before
But everything is going up in price
My life is going all right up 'til now
Even so there's something missing
More truth
More intelligence
Ha ha
More future
More laughs
More culture
Don't forget adrenaline
More freedom
I need more than an ordinary grind
And the more I think the more I need:
More bars
I'll take more money
More champagne
I can't forget my brain
More floors
More doors
More mustard
Pickle and relish
I need more than an ordinary grind
Everybody ought to love his job
And live his life and keep his pride
Imperturbably happy with the one you love
With an exciting future
On the fat of the land
I need more than an ordinary grind
And the more I think the more I need
My life is going all right up 'til now
Even so it's not enough for me and
I need more
I need more
I need more
Oo oo oo oo
Oo oo oo oo
Than I ever did before
I need to lead a disciplined existence
And play scratchy records
And enjoy my decline
With more divorce, more distance,
more future, more culture...

Beck Pay No Mind (Snoozer)
This is song 2 on the album
this is the album right here
burn the album
Tonight the city is full of morgues
and all the toilets are overflowing
there's shopping malls coming out of the walls
as we walk out among the manure
Thats why
I pay no mind
I pay no mind
I pay no mind
Give the finger to the rock n roll singer
as he's dancing upon your paycheck
the sales climb high through the garbage pail sky
like a giant dildo crushing the sun
Thats why
I pay no mind
sleep in slime
I just got signed
So get out your lead-pipe pipe dreams
get out your ten foot flags
the insects are huge and the poison's all been used
and the drugs wont kill your day job...honey
Thats why
I pay no mind
I pay no mind
I pay no mind

Right now my wife is trying to find song lyrics with the words "you're a fucking idiot" in them. I'll let you know what she comes up with.

Darryl,
Do you remember, years ago, when we decided who on the old JCS would sing which parts in Ball Of Confusion? Or am I hallucinating? It seems to me we worked out all the lines and who would do them.
If it really did happen, and there's any justice, I would have gotten the "And the band played on" line. But I just can't remember.
Old,
Larry

Otis's version of "My Girl"..i.f you change the gender"!
My wife's fav song..."Sunshine on a cloudy Day and when it's cold outside, we got Brother Ray". Hell, we did once. Her version.

I'm first in line for "Oh, great googamooga, can't you hear me talking to you."
Larry - can't you find the lyrics for "We Love Detroit"? I believe this was a WCSX ripoff of Randy Newman's "We Love L.A.", circa 1986-87...

I was grinding through my day gig
Stackin' cutouts at the Strand
When in walks Franny from NYU
We were quite an item back then
We talked about her films and shows and CDs
And I don't know what else
She said, yeah, Hollywood's been good to me
But tell me - how about yourself
I'm still working on that novel
But I'm just about to quit
'Cause I'm worrying about the future now
Or maybe this is it
It's not all that I thought it would be
What a shame about me
She said, talk to me, do you ever see
Anybody else from our old crew
Bobby Dakine won the Bunsen Prize
Now he's coming out with something new
Alan owns a chain of Steamer Heavens
And Barry is the software king
And somebody told me in the early 80's
You were gonna be the Next Big Thing
Well now that was just a rumor
But I guess I'm doin' fine
Three weeks out of the rehab
Living one day at a time
Sneaking up on the new century
What a shame about me
What a shame about me
I'm thinking of a major Jane Street sunrise
And the goddess on the fire escape was you
We both ran out of small talk
The connection seemed to go dead
I was about to say, hey, have a nice life
When she touched my hand and said:
You know I just had this great idea
This could be very cool
Why don't we grab a cab to my hotel
And make believe we're back at our old school
I said babe you look delicious
And you're standing very close
But like this is Lower Broadway
And you're talking to a ghost
Take a good look it's easy to see
What a shame about me
What a shame about me

Given the above embarrassment and, as I'm sure Dr. Dave would want me to dispel the unpleasant impression mentioned by Chris D, allow me to substitute the following. I do not guarantee their accuracy, since let's face it, I can hardly make out a lot of the lyrics on the actual recording, but the gist is correct:
I'm eternally grateful
To my past influences
But they will not free me
I am not diseased
All the people ask me
How I wrote "Elastic Man"
Life should be full of strangeness
Like a rich painting
But it gets worse day by day
I'm a potential DJ
A creeping wreck
A mental wretch
Everybody asks me
How I wrote "Elastic Man"
His soul hurts though it's well filled up
The praise received is mentally sent back
Or taken apart
The Observer magazine just about sums him up
E.g. self-satisfied, smug
I'm living a fake
People say, "You are entitled to and great."
But I haven't wrote for 90 days
I'll get a good deal and I'll go away
Away from the empty brains that ask
How I wrote "Elastic Man"
His last work was "Space Mystery" in the Daily Mail,
An article in Leather Thighs
The only thing real is waking and rubbing your eyes
So I'm resigned to bed
I keep bottles and comics stuffed by its head
Fuck it, let the beard grow
I'm too tired,
I'll do it tomorrow
The fridge is sparse
But in the town
They'll stop me in the shops
Verily they'll track me down
Touch my shoulder and ignore my dumb mission
And sick red faced smile
And they will ask me
And they will ask me
How I wrote "Elastic Man"

Cattle and Cane
(Go Betweens)
I recall a schoolboy coming home
Through fields of cane
To a house of tin and timber
And in the sky
A rain of falling cinders
From time to time
The waste memory-wastes
I recall a boy in bigger pants
Like everyone
Just waiting for a chance
His father's watch
He left it in the showers
From time to time
The waste memory-wastes
I recall a bigger brighter world
A world of books
And silent times in thought
And then the railroad
The railroad takes him home
Through fields of cattle
Through fields of cane
From time to time
The waste memory-wastes
The waste memory-wastes
Further, longer, higher, older
Sounds of Then
(Gangajang)
I think I hear the sounds of then,
And people talking,
The scenes recalled, by minute movement,
And songs they fall, from the backing tape.
That certain texture, that certain smell,
To lie in sweat, on familiar sheets,
In brick veneer on financed beds.
In a room, of silent hardiflex
That certain texture, that certain smell,
Brings home the heavy days,
Brings home the night time swell,
Out on the patio we'd sit,
And the humidity we'd breathe,
We'd watch the lightning crack over canefields
Laugh and think, this is Australia.
The block is awkward - it faces west,
Long diagonals, and sloping too.
And in the distance, through the heat haze,
In convoys of silence the cattle graze.
That certain texture, that certain beat,
Brings forth the night time heat.
Out on the patio we'd sit,
And the humidity we'd breathe,
We'd watch the lightning crack over canefields
Laugh and think that this is Australia.
To lie in sweat, on familiar sheets,
In brick veneer on financed beds.
In a room of silent hardiflex
That certain texture, that certain smell,
Brings forth the heavy days,
Brings forth the night time sweat
Out on the patio we'd sit,
And the humidity we'd breathe,
We'd watch the lightning crack over canefields
Laugh and think, this is Australia.
Out on the patio we'd sit,
And the humidity we'd breathe,
We'd watch the lightning crack over canefields
Laugh and think, this is Australia.
This is Australia, this is Australia, this is Australia

i think that this is in another thread but i do love dusty springfields' "the look of love.
play it on a hard day of work. man coming home to his world of him and his
sanity.
he looks up and sees all in their eyes that look of love.
breaks me down every time i hear that song.
sammy hums that also. now what the two songs have in simularity i have no idea. "if i had a hammer and the look of love".
he is a commited soul.
