Overseas Opportunities
ATTENTION ALL SINGER/PIANISTS:
There are many venues in Asia and the Middle East looking for those who are interested in bringing jazz to the masses.
There are already plenty of lounge types calling themselves 'jazz'. What're needed are jazz musicians willing to work solo/duo, to help develop a jazz community by spreading the word/music in areas that have been un- or misinformed about jazz.
There also venues in areas such as Japan, that have a well-established jazz community.
If you:
>are willing to travel
>sing and play jazz (a few from the "Great American Songbook", jazz tunes - Duke, Miles, Monk, Silver; bit of blues, originals, etc)
>are comfortable talking to press, club management, general public about jazz and performing (building an audience sometimes requires some education)
..., then you may be ideal for one of these engagements.
Please understand: I am NOT an agent, club owner/manager, or contractor. I am a musician, like yourself. Because of my work in these areas, I am contacted often by venues who are looking for similar sounds, and I cannot cover all the work myself. Besides, they need to understand that I'm not a freak of nature: there are many musicians who play jazz.
I DO NOT represent you or the venues, I WILL NOT accept a commission- from you or the venue. I can/will only put you in touch with venues that may suit your abilities.
