The Basie Centennial Ball - Oct 9, 2004

Have you ever wondered what it was to be listening and dancing to the great big bands in the ballrooms of Harlem back in day? The Basie Centennial Ball on Oct 9, 2004 is probably the closest you will get to that today. This event will be a grand reunion of the music and the dance, as it was meant to be.

Count Basie Orchestra alumni performing include: Clark Terry (1948-51), Frank Foster (1953-64), Frank Wess (1953-64), Joe Wilder (1954), Benny Powell (1952-63), Irene Reid (1961-62) and Dennis Rowland (1977-84). These alumni, along with Frank Foster’s Swing Plus Band and other jazz greats such as Junior Mance, Earl May and Barbara Morrison have all come together to create an unforgettable evening of music.

Admission
General: $49 at the door or $40 in advance online (until Oct 4)
Students & Seniors: $30 with proof of valid ID at the door

This sounds sooooo great!! I wish I had someone to go with! If had a b.f to go with me, I'd go in a second! Maybe I should go anyway?

You don't need to bring a partner. In fact most people come without one. There'll be hundreds of people there all wanting to dance, you'll have no trouble finding dances at all!

I never bring a partner when I go out dancing and I always have a blast!
