No More Mr. Nice Guy

As WorldNetDaily reported last week, shock-rock legend Alice Cooper called rock stars campaigning for Democrat John Kerry treasonous morons.

"I call it treason against rock 'n' roll because rock is the antithesis of politics. Rock should never be in bed with politics," Cooper told the Canadian Press.

"If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal."

"Besides," he continued, "when I read the list of people who are supporting Kerry, if I wasn't already a Bush supporter, I would have immediately switched. Linda Ronstadt? Don Henley? Geez, that's a good reason right there to vote for Bush."

Real persuasive, Now that the long time REAL ROCKER/golfer mentions it, I will change my vote because Henley and Ronstadt and Springsteen are for Kerry. I always felt more of a kindred spirit with Alice Cooper and Colin Quinn and Joe Piscopo and Kathie Lee Gifford anyway.

Alice Cooper lost his credibility with real death-worshipers once he started golfing.

I love Bruce Springsteen and have all of his records. My wife recently complained on a drive south when "I'm On Fire" came on the FM radio. She shouted "Democrat!" and turned the station. I see where she is coming from, but 90% of artists are so removed from earth that of course they believe the vogue-ish sloganeering from the cool Left. I still say Bruce writes songs that are smarter than he is.

then Bruce is even dumber than he looks or sounds

and that is almost impossible to believe as everyone knows what he looks and sounds like

Cooper is right about one thing. At least *he* is a moron in the rock world but I'm sure some rock folk read the Washington Post. Isn't Cooper now doing what he accuses others of? Yeah moron!

A friend who regularly goes to rock concerts said that Cooper was by far the worst show, as far as sound and musicianship, he'd ever seen, closely followed by Fleetwood Mac. Not surprising really as both are non events anyway.

That reminded me of the way the (newer version) body snatchers would shriek and point, mouth agape.

I thought that was pretty funny, myself. Not because I agree with Cooper, because I don't, but just his description of what rockers should do. No wonder his music is so inane.

I don't mind Bruce Springsteen and have none of his records. My wife recently celebrated on a drive north when "Pink Cadillac" came on the FM radio. She shouted "Democrat!" and listened elatedly to it all the way through. I see where she is coming from, but 10% of artists are so down to earth that of course they believe that Bush sucks dead doggie dicks from the weird-ass Right. I still say Bruce is more politically savvy than his songs.

I just had a deja-vu...hmmm...

what crawjo said - but I thought it was obvious - did anyone think that a man with taste in music as exquisite as the Cap'n would like Alice Cooper's so-called "music"?

no, just because he doesn't walk in walkstep with most everyone here

Dude, the Democrats should totally return fire for the whole Swift Boat Vets thing by launching a major media offensive saying that Bush likes to suck the penises of dead dogs. Or maybe some of that push-polling that Rove is so fond of.

Just start calling old Ohio grandmothers and asking, "Would you be more or less likely to vote for George Bush if you learned that he engaged in oral sex with dead dogs?"

Ageist! Sexist! The Kerry campaign should be calling Ohioans of every age and gender and asking them whether they'd be more or less likely to vote for George Bush if they learned that he engaged in oral sex with dead dogs. Actually, doesn't "engaged" suggest reciprocity? They should just ask whether they'd be more or less likely to vote for George Bush if they knew he sucked dead dogs' dicks.

PS: Doesn't Alice Cooper live in Phoenix or Scottsdale or someplace like that? I mean, this is what makes America great: You can have a career that includes a stage act of feigning your own death by guillotine and singing songs with lyrics like "Dead babies can't take things off the shelf" and still live in a gated golf community as long as you vote Republican.

I haven't enjoyed a Bruce Springsteen record since "The Wild, etc." Alice Cooper had two good tunes, tops. Mojo Nixon was right about Don Henley.

Crawjo, I had not previously heard about that particular Bush fetish (Fido fellatio), but it comes as no surprise.

As for Springsteen, I've always thought it's kind of funny that he casts himself as a working class hero but his fans call him "The Boss."

I'm with Cooper, actually.

I'm also opposed to Babs. For any reason. My normal rule is to oppose whatever she supports and support whatever she opposes.

I'll never understand why people look to "celebrities" for political advice. Hell, Hollywood can't even produce a decent movie apart from the occasional accident that proves the rule.

Have you heard Etta James sing it, though? Transcendent.
