This is the thanks I get for even acknowledging the lack of interest in what interests you? An attack on my own taste? Please.

I'll try my best to say something awful that will spark some controversy and draw attention to this thread just to help ya out.
###
Uh. Bjork has a funny letter in her name that I can't even reproduce with my keyboard.
Um. She's a foreigner. Not just to America but to almost everywhere.
I've never been to Iceland. Hear it is nice, but kind of on the expensive side. It is a real existing place, however, so we could bomb it. Unlike Shangri-la or Narnia, which don't exist and cannot be bombed. (But should be).
And why not bomb it! It's probably filled with bjerks.
Fucking Bjork. Skin her alive! Cut her into chops.
Except I like that one album, the pink one. The one with the "it's very quiet" tune. That's really quite a profound record. That song about getting up early and throwing things off a mountain...brilliant. Harrowing in its perception of marginal psychology.
As to this new record, I'm with Dr. Dave. Get stewed:
Bjork is a load of crap.

I'll be brief and to the point. I really don't understand why there needs to be sniping or contentiousness on this or other threads created by Sand, a very knowledgable, generous man I've "known" and respected online and off for many years. If you're not interested in his creations, ignore them. Some of the comments I've seen aimed at Sand recently seem unnecessary and mean-spirited to me.
I don't always immediately "get" Sand's "angles" or humor either. That's not all that surprising to me, inasmuch as he lives in a considerably different culture from mine. I'm very glad to call him my friend, though.

While I said recently I didn't like Björk, my girlfriend put on "Homogenic" a few days ago and I must admit that it is hard to dislike "The Hunter" and a few of the other songs.

Hope this isn't far too off-topic - trying to make the most use of my decent shots here

Hey Cem, thank you - more incentive to sort through the lot and find some others. I've just discovered the uses of cropping it seems. I very much enjoy taking pictures with my newly acquired (amateur) camera. To venture even further from the topic, why is it that whenever I find a good spot/setting I'd like to take a picture of that there have to be so many people all around to ruin the shot? Yes, I know try less densely populated areas.

i saw a movie where she starred in the acting role as a polish? immigrant...artsy film thing...she was good in that..it was a good move but the movie fell apart in the end with the courtroom drama..

Thanks to Sand, I've been privileged to enjoy Dadafon, featuring vocalist Kristin Asbjørnsen for several years now. Very interesting group, which has had a recent change in part of the lineup as I understand it, with a bassist and drummer replacing two former percussionists. Is that correct, Sand?

Bjork's no giggling schoolgirl, however there is a childlike (not childish) quality to some of her work. I don't see any useful comparson between Bjork and Dadafon however.

You may want to become a sort of ghost and if you don't mind moving around a bit, go clandy with soft soles, black clothes and snug headgear --not unlike some thief in the cartoons.

Update
Kristin has made the music for the film "Factotum"
Kristin Asbjornsen - Factotum
.....This album has beautiful lyrics. Asbjornsen is talented at conveying deep meaning and emotion through her vocals. The instrumentals are played with equal talent and complement Asbjornsen magnificently. I applaud her on her great accomplishment with this collection. It expresses deep sadness and extreme loneliness. She will go far if she keeps performing like this and I look forward to her solo album. I would recommend this to everyone. Though it is hard for foreigners to become music sensations in America, I think Asbjornsen will be the next big thing. No one should be without this wonderful CD.

Billboard/AMG:
Album Review
... But the good news for music fans is the important larger discovery of the incredibly diverse and captivating Scandinavian jazz composer and vocalist Kristin Asbjørnsen. Even without images, the soundtrack to Factotum functions quite well by itself as a haunting, complex, atmospheric work with varied moods and instrumentation. The opener "On the Bus" is just over a minute but brings back magnificent creepy memories of Twin Peaks. After "Reunion," a subtle and graceful solo piano piece, is the chamber music-flavored "I Wish to Weep," featuring the composer's smoky, emotional vocals toiling sweetly over a simple Bukowski poem/lyric that gives the words a scorching urgency. There are other similarly flavored lead vocals (most notably, the classical/folk-tinged "Slow Day,") but Asbjørnsen proves herself equally adept at creating moods with wordless vocals ("Farewell I," "Beside You"). Amidst the largely melancholy vibe of most of these tracks is the rumbling and percussive acoustic jazz magic of the quirkily titled "Pickles." Asbjørnsen, making her composing debut, performs these pieces with her band Dadafon, drawing inspiration not only from her formal jazz education nbut also her love for West African griot singers. A fascinating work. ~ Jonathan Widran, All Music Guide

Well, back to Kristin Asbjørnsen. There are full versions of one of the tunes from the her new solo album "Wayfaring Stranger" and a couple from the Factotum soundtrack here

I like Bjork, and have liked her last couple of albums. I particularly liked that album she did with Matmos backing her.
