NFL 2004
tonight's the night
Colts-Pats
let's see if the enforce the new rules which were generated by last years playoff games between the two teams
I say they start tough (especially in tonight's game)
I expect a high scoring game - I'll be watching Dillon closely along with Graham - maybe he can harness his huge talent
maybe 38-31 - you choose the winner - I hope for my Patriots to carry the day
should be a good one

If the pre-season means anything, the Pats could be in trouble not only tonght, but all season.
Somebody please tell me that the pre-season doesn't count.

means NOTHING NADA ZERO
Jets used to be a wonder in the preseason and lose at least 10 games in the regular season
plus remember the Pats got smoked by the Bills in game one last year 31 to something tiny
don't worry - Pats will be fine - among the best 2 or 3 teams in the NFL
someone gonna fix the title of this thread to NFL from Nfl?
please - it looks real stupid

When has the pre-season ever counted?
Never. And this one was no different. Veteren teams tend to take it easy in the pre-season. They know what they are capable of. Plus, they hardly even open the playbook because there is no need to let the other teams scout you before the season even gets under way.
The pre-season is all about figuring out where, how, and if those question mark players will be a contributing factor to your team.
And I don't see tonight's tilt being a high scoring affair. I'm thinking more along the lines of a 21-17 or 24-21 game. Should be close.

Keep it like it is; it's a fitting tribute to what the league has become under Tagliabue. Like the Patriots being super bowl champs.

I think what JMJ is saying is that the Pats are in trouble if they call the new rules the way they're doing it this preseason, and yes, if they do, you bet your ass they're in trouble. But they're not the only team.

I'm not so sure about the Pats, but we'll see. I was under the impression Belichick pretty much benched his starters in the last exhibition game...

It's hard to imagine the Lions winning less than 12 games this year.
Wait, no it's not.

Ollie's Oligarchs sitting this one out tonight, but all reports on Ollie QB Aaron Brooks look very fine....break-out season time!
Rooting for Indy as the Pats still retain a whiff of BoSoxitis. Big question: Can Ollie remain awake for the entire game? Oddsmakers laying 3-1 against.

flipped on ESPN for an instant
I should know better - thank the heavens above that the game is on ABC - no listening to that MORON Theisman
but Michale Irvin makes John Kruk sound like a genius
part of a sentence was:
"down linemens"
and that is surprising because usualy he is not understandable
someone fire this man - him *and* shit for brains Chris Berman ona show together is too much for any sane person to handle
only thing worse is that if the jerk off of all jerk offs, Terry Bradshaw, was also on the same show
does anyone rememeber that Bradshaw during his playing career was always upset that people characterized him as a dumbass cowpoke and redneck doophus?
which is, of course, is exactly what he was, is, and always will be - but I guess today that means you'r a star and a hot commodity - like Deieon Sanders or Shannon Sharpe - is Sharpe on the stuid ESPN show with Berman and Irvin? I didn't keep it on long enough to notice - oh no - he replaced Deion on CBS - now with the dope Boomer & the unprepeared and boring Mariono, I don't know how the professional Breg Gumbel will get through the season without commitingsuicide.
Jim Nantz must be one of the happiest men on earth to be done with one of the dumbass shows known as NFL pre-game shows
and Rudy whatever his name - you know the shill who writes (sic) for USA Today - he seesm to think they are more important than NFL games - he speaks very highly about all that are involved - this guy must have an incredible amount of alternate income - maybe almost as high as Roger Ebert's!!! thumbs up1, WAAAAY up!!! for movies that any normal human being cannot watch for more than 20 minutes - yell you what the wrong guy died - probably from sitting next to that fat ass fool for so many years
now he revels in it, has made a career out of it - and we're supposed to listen to him act like a total jackass fool and we're supposed to be 'entertained' or 'amused' by it?
wrld has gone mad, completely and totally mad
blood and guts, baby

You know what, Steve?
I'm getting sick and tired of you beating around the bush, mincing words and what not.
If you want to tell us how you feel, then just fucking do it already!!!
ps - I agree with your post 100%. Or in sportspeak "110%".

Almost Cappz. But that capital N just wouldn't get it.
Of course D doesn't fit anywhere in "his" league either.

gonna enforce the bumping by the corners, Jon
10-10
but the Colts will have another drive in the first half
James looks great - looks like pthe pre-injury Jones
Dillon breaks a 38 yard run
but what is the biggesy pleasure for Pats fans is that Brady looks better than ever - that 20 yard rocket on 2nd & 17 was a thing of beauty - damn does he look good

bad news is that the Pats defense looks like swiss cheese
pass to the tight end goes 64 yards
yuck
only thing is they will probably go in the end zone so quick the Pats might get another drive of their own

Actually, I was thinking of the way the Bengals made the Pats' defense look like they weren't even on the field. The Colts have shown that propoensity in the first half tonight, as well.

make sure you see the ball Manny butchered on the highlights later, Steve. three-base error, led to four unearned runs, Seattle 7-0 in the 5th.

Sorry, not new rules, but reinforcement of the existing rules regarding defensive contact with receivers, which officials have basically admitted they haven't been enforcing very well. This was brought on mostly by last year's AFC Championship game where the Patriots manhandled the Colts receivers all game long. The NFL sent a video around to all the teams in training camp showing what they would start enforcing more, and they really cracked down in the preseason, something like four times the calls from a year ago. Could be a really good offensive year in the NFL.

yeah, that was a travesty. I just started watching, but the refs seem to be pretty awful so far.

I hope so. The Lions' only chance is winning with offense. Defense is sh** this year (again).

heard about it
not sure I'll be able to watch it
awaiting the manning drive
boy Edgerrin James fumbling twice inside the Pats 20 - once on the 1 on first and goal
Colts shpuld have had this one in the bag 2 quarters ago - but they should be able to at least get it into OT

McGinest with the play of the game - WOW
especially after that Stokley guy catches a 46 yarder
and the kicker Vanderjact (spelling) misses a 48 yarder ending his 42 in a row streak!!
what a game!!!
karma from last year continues!!!!

Vanderjagt.
What a douchebag.
Spout all the meaningless numbers you want, this dude CANNOT make a kick when it counts. And as an ex-Dolphins fan, trust me, I speak from experience.

BTW, Vanderjagt was another of the Colts I saw in Providence last night. Not sure he was only drinking water, though!
Wild finish. Willie McGinnest is the Colts' worst nightmare.
