Spring Heel Jack - The Sweetness of the Water

Anybody heard this? I won't judge it on only one whole and one half-assed listen, but so far this one seems pretty yawnsville to me.

Not like the mayor of Yawnsville or anything, but possibly a member of the Yawnsville city council.

There were a couple of good pieces. Track 3, I believe, was pretty interesting. But the rest of it seems pretty nondescript compared to the originality of 'Live' or 'Amassed'.

Anyway, I tend to change my mind about recordings after a while, but I wanted to see if I wasn't the only one with this first impression.

Haven't heard this yet but the content of the reviews I've read (bagatellen and Wire, perhaps one more) were pretty similar to your impressions. Too bad.

(I so much wanted to have that "Registered Loser" thing-y that I considered having an avatar for a while. No more shall I busy my mind with it, though, the good news is.)

I like their other 'jazzy' releases too much to dismiss them, but I hope this one is not an indication of things to come.
