Nice. Drudge is running this photo above the headline "TOP GUN."

Why does this photo bring to mind a stark comparison with, say, Michael Dukakis in a tank?

Somebody print me a bumpersticker. "George W. is my hee-ro."

I'm sure this looked like a good idea at the time, but surely some actual fighter pilots have to be thinking to themselves, "what a freakin' poseur. How's about you sign up for a tour there, Rambo?"

I don't think the Secret Service want him taking the stick, Tanager. Which evidently he did up there today for a "third of the trip," according to his account. That's good press, of course, but not heroics. It's good politics, too. All the pictures from today are worth a mint, politically. Not to the anti-Bushies who fortunately or unfortunately have everything backwards these days. If the American people like one thing, they insist on the opposite.

By the way, the flight suit wasn't a costume. The President didn't come in on a passenger craft; everyone in the jet he did fly in on was suited up per regulation. Of course, yes he could have come in on Marine One like a normal President. Or could he? Not sure where the Lincoln was this evening.

How predictable that Monte wouldn't relate to your question in a straightforward manner, Tanager. It's not about "taking the stick", Monte, it's about "taking the risk"! DUH!!

Poseur, indeed!

Obviuosly nobody realizes that 9 months at sea IS A LONG FREAKIN' TIME!!!!!
People, these guys just want to get home. Bush's visit is just a little bit more than the normal VIP tour that usually occurs when heading in.
However, I am sure many were pleased to see him. Believe it or not but A LOT of the military loves this man. I work with somebody who has a framed picture of him in his office.

Shrugs, I think the Lincoln was ten months at sea. I agree--A LONG FREAKIN' TIME to be stuck on a metal tub.

By the way, did you hear about the Chinese sub today--some kind of an accident with many sailers drowned. Thought of you when I heard. No Navy man can't want to hear about stuff like that.

One of the many stories, none giving great detail about the accident itself (none to be had, I think), on the Chinese sub disaster:
