LSB - Walk, Stop, Look and Walk

tracks 1-5 recorded live @ Glenn Miller Cafe in Stockholm

tracks 6-7 recorded live @ The Velvet Lounge in Chicago

LSB is:

Fredrik Ljungkvist - tenor & baritone saxophones, clarinet
Johan Berthling - bass
Raymond Strid - drums

high energy you desire?

like to hear Mr. Raymond Strid open up and kick some serious over the top ass?

Fredrik is a big time guy - although again nothing earth shattering as far as being new and innovative - but it is EARTH SHATTERING - the trio sounds fresh as paint and vital and on the edge - the third track with the saxophonist on the beast is 7 minutes of glory - and the Swedes somehow give this high energy or escastic music their own spin.

and Raymond Strid is a whirlwind and mad props to the sound guys for nailing this one - when I listen to relatively recent recordings like this on a small label, it reminds me of a huge pet peeve of mine - bad sound on current lables like blue note, verve, etc.

when I was buying a whole slew of records, I would hear piece of shit sound continually from the majors - Joe Lovano's 2 CD vanguard set was shockingly bad - compared to something like this or the Borgmann/Morris/Charles recording, one had to dig long and hard to hear anything that would even approach the sound quality of either of these recordings

love this recording

steve, my man, i agree wholeheartedly. these musicians are farking unbelievable.
and the way they interact is truly inspiring. it makes me want to write like mats gustafsson! play it FUCKING LOUD!!!!!!

YEAH!!!!

and speaking of mats, i just heard a recording of the thing that i downloaded off of easytree from 2001 where they play material from the first two records. let me repeat myself: PLAY IT FUCKING LOUD!!!!!!!!(i've been walking through the streets with this on my ears. i'm all ears. it's beautiful. it surrounds me. the single most beautiful thing that has grazed my ears today is when mats plays a phrase, then takes the mouthpiece out of his mouth and shouts. fucking fire)

pardon the language, i'm in on a friday night.
