Penny Wells - Shine

Not since Anita Baker has Detroit produced a chanteuse such as Penny Wells. Her debut CD entitled "Shine" exudes an mature R&B sensibility but is sure to please any smooth jazz lover's palate. You can check out the audio samples at:

Here is a review from Maysa's website, posted May 25, 2004:

I am officially passing the Smooth Jazz Torch over to.... Penny Wells!! Her CD is awesome. Harron gave one to me at the gig the other night and Troy and I listened to it all the way home...Superman got repeated about six times!! I am so proud Penny, you did an excellent job!..Congrats! (Now I must go play mad musical scientist and create my next project...b-haha-hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!)... Maysa

Ms. Wells recently sang the United States National Anthem at the opening ceremonies for the 35th Ryder Cup Matches. Here are a couple of links to stories regarding her:

The CD was produced by jazz pianist and Temptation's Music Director Al McKenzie. I'd encourage you to check it...it's very good!!

That (1) most people on JC hate the genre of "smooth jazz" with a passion & (2) in any case, they don't appreciate it when this forum is used for commercial plugs for discs, especially when the poster doesn't participate in the JC community beyond shilling. This is a forum for record reviews not ads. If you want to post plugs then the "News" forum is more appropriate.
